Looks cut and dry to me. Baddie breaks in with weapon. Baddie get popped. Oh well. Glad Harry home owner was a good shot. Family safe and all is well. Great ending to the story.

I should imagine that under identical circumstances (armed intruder, women and children at risk of serious/life threatening harm and hopefully a licenced firearm certificate).

The Police would only 'go through the motions', knowing full well that a jury would probably reach a verdict of self defence.
