I should imagine that under identical circumstances (armed intruder, women and children at risk of serious/life threatening harm and hopefully a licenced firearm certificate).

The Police would only 'go through the motions', knowing full well that a jury would probably reach a verdict of self defence.

Poor home owner, he would have been so damn scared for his family, I hope he and his family get through this ok

This is why criminals prefer unarmed citizens.

Even though this was clearly self-defense, my sympathies to the home owner and his family. This is not a pleasant thing to go through.

This sends a clear and loud message to criminals!

He already planned on it. He didn't get the chance. I'd say there was a 99% chance this family would have been murdered, of course after the women had been raped first.

Im not sure if this is a cultural difference, or your philsophical thoughts are derived from a sheltered life, but, its common knowledge around here in the US: You don't break into peoples houses.

A persons home has some sanctity to it, you don't enter unless invited. Period.

The only debate i ever see in this subject, is what firearm to use for home defense. I prefer a pump action shotgun. :rotfl:
