IX drivers advice needed

Currently based with the 12th out of Bordeaux, when I get back to base (got long way to go) my next patrol will be in 1944. Where do you go wilth your IX boat and are you looking for single merchants or are you toughing it out with the convoys?

Welcome aboard, Uboatman!

I haven't reached 44. But I go wherever BDU sends me. I hear that attacking convoys in 44 is risky. Shoot your torpedoes from outside the screen. I don't think you'll find many unescorted merchies.

Welcome aboard Kaleun

By 44 it's already perilous out there....escorts have radar, hedgehogs and elite status.

In a Type IX I like to travel down to Freetown or across to America and a little later sometimes a Monsun stint in the Indian Ocean.

In same situation as UboatMan.
Except we're not home yet but once/if that happens, we would like to go to South Africa and then into the Indian Ocean.

But how to do this correctly, when using GWX 2.1 with it's "split" campaignsfiles?

Shall we dock at the U-boat west of Cape Town or go to Brake at Madagaskar, before enabling "GWX - Indian Ocean Campaign Files Only"?

My guess is the milch cow, but would appreciate it, if you can clarify!

I always have the merged campaigns loaded because they contain all the scripted events in the SH3 world.

If your not able to for wharever reason, simply dock at a supply boat or milch cow and exit the game.

Perform a rollback if using SH3 Commander then engage the Indian Ocean mod via JSGME and head out on your next patrol.

Alternatively (and probably the easiest way) and providing it is Sept 43 or later....apply for a transfer to the 10th Flotilla in Penang.

You will still need to enable the Indian Ocean mod via JSGME though

So I won't loose any traffic? Perhaps I'll do as you and enable the full monty!
It do take more than 6 minutes to load anyway...

It is, but no thanks! We prefer to sail the thing all the way!

Thanks for your feedback!
