Default Nice little freebie

So there i am in my VIIB cruising along at about 30 meters depth when all of the sudden my sound officer makes contact with a merchant at close range.

to say he was at close range is an understatement... as this guy was directly above us his heading and course was EXACTLY the same as our own just by pure happenstance.

He had sailed directly up our baffels and crossed overtop of us and i mean our courses matched to within a degree i would bet.

So i popped up to periscope depth and for sure... im looking through the attack scope at the arse end of an empire class freighter larger than life about 100 meters ahead of me.

"wow... its like that breed of wild fish that jumps into your boat" i thought to myself

i zeroed all the TDC numbers, set the magnetic pistol and the running depth and shoved an eel straight up his rear.

changed course about 15 degrees to starboard and watched him sink right next to us about 400 meters to port.

it was a nice little freebie!

thanks GWX!

pretty scary to have an ship sneak up on your baffles. Glad it was an unarmed merchant instead of a very armed destroyer <gulp>

I wonder what they called "crazy Ivans" during the second world war?

If I understand right.
It is a manuever subs do in order to "hear" behind, otherwise they wouldn't be able to hear what is behind them because of the noise caused by the
propellers
