Just isnt fair!

I made a detour thru scapa flow sank heavy tanker, medium tanker and troop transport then exited east.
Found a sail boat and sank it with my 20mm AA.:rotfl: Found a tug boat and sank it with deck gun.:p Battled an ASW and sunk it with AA and deck gun. Patched myself up alot. Then a P.T. boat shows up and I begin fighting him in a running duel. Sooon he is burning and I asume that victory is moments away then.........What Im dead!? He only had machine guns! I guess my hull % reached zero. Arghhhh! Thats the only thing I can think of. Just isnt fair!

I assume you're using GWX?

Use teh SH3CMDr and let the Hull% show ... I do so as I strongly believe that the crew and the LI always knew how much the boat has taken so far...

This I have to suggest for GWX 2.1.... a "rough" hull status like ...
excellenet conditions - slightly damage - damaged - ripped to pieces - don't even ask

Dueling on the surface is suicide for a U-boat. That's why they have the capability to submerge.

The U-boat is a weapon of stealth and surprise. The moment warships become aware of your presense, you are the hunted.

My bet is the hull gave in or you got shot by the PT boat's buddies from far away. This can happen. I'm chasing a convoy off Spain at the moment, but there's something on my tail. I don't know what yet, but he's shooting at me from time to time as I try to overtake the convoy for another attack.

Although, I must say, that it appears that your choice of tactics led directly to your demise, so I guess in this case that life actually *IS* fair.

Well, in real life they couldn't reload and start over, so I guess in this case it's actually more than fair.

Machine gun and cannon ammo could soon render a sub incapable of diving......the water depth is your only true means of protection

Those torpedoboats sure are annoying little bastards, they can take horrible punishment without sinking.

You can waste over 20 deck gun shell on it, blow everything removable from it, still it keeps going. Burning.

Were they really this though?
