Hi gang.
Ive got back into sh3 after a long time. I only ever did a couple missions when I first got it, but now im on 7th patrol and enjoying it far more. Im enjoying learning better ways to attack and evade. Great sneaky fun. #1 One thing is driving me nuts though. How come, each time I surface, I have to manually make the Watch officer go up on deck? I have to grab him and drag him up top. The other crew watchmen go up automatcially, why not him? Is he tired? Is he scared? Was he in the toilet (again)? Has he lost his binoclears? I need him on deck fast! I cant even order the various crew about on deck withou him, so I have to get HIM up there manually first, before I can bark orders at them all. PLEASE tell me what Im doing wrong? Should I keel haul him as an example to the others? #2 Secondly, having just returned to the game and still knowing very little, can someone tell me what this "GWX" thing is that I keep reading about? what is it? Hope someone can help me. Thankyou. Bonefish. |

Hi
The watch officer wont go on deck unless you drag him there - hard coded issue that cannot be changed As far as GWX goes have a look at the home page http://gwx.mysite.orange.co.uk/ Tis a freeware expansion that adds so much A look through the manual will help |

GWX converts SH3 into a totally greater sim. There's more of everything, but it is also more difficult than the stock version.

GWX to sum it up is everything SH3 COULD have been had the devs been given the time and budget by UBI to finish the sim.
I would say after playing SH3 vanilla for 7 patrols... go to GWX. You will appreciate the differences! |

Aha! so he IS in the toilet! (dammit)
Thanks for that, at least I know its something I'll have to live with. Seems very odd though, for crew to go up and not him, the lynch-pin of spotting and giving orders. Oh well, a daft oversight in my humble opinin, but at least I know now. Thankyou Kindly. GWX oh a mod? Hmmm, I cant say as I find it very easy to play even at 25% realism, but that prob says far more about me than the game :-) Ill have a look at the list of features. Thankyou folks. By the way, I keep reading about a great sh3 "community manual", but cant seem to find a working link to it. Has it been sunk ? Bones. |

Yeah, the watch officer is a real pain. Whenever I surface, I go strait to the crew management screen, drag and hold the WO over his square on the bridge and drop him as soon as the watch crew shows up. Just for good measure, I'll ask him right away for any contacts.
