Default I truly have no life. (building Revell's 1/72nd VIIC)

Last week I burned a smoking hole in my credit card and picked up Revell's 1/72nd scale Type VIIC U-Boat. Started puting it together over the last few days. Wow, what a kit! This thing is huge, over 36 inches long. It comes with a stand which has proven quite handy for building in such a small work area (see pics). I'll post more pics once the paint's dry. (Sorry about the crappy color.)

It looks as though this U-boat may be in dry dock for some time. Good luck, keep us updated with your progress.

Yeah, I've got one still in the box...

In my case I was wanting to do the R/C conversion. I've got the dive bladder, air pumps, WTC, and radio... just haven't had the time to put in the orders for the rest of the gadgets. I still need a few servos, some linkages, and electric motors. I'll probably also need a good drill press and a new dremmel tool before I can really get started.

Use to be that it was cheaper too... came with snorkel and sans net cutter.

Once you finish that one, you can go hunt down their 1/72 Flower class Corvette.
What I'd really like to find is a River Class. I'd like to do it up like HMCS Saint John, the boat my grandfather commanded when he sunk U-247, the U-boat I'm building now.
Here's a link to a VIIC that I really like:

Unfortunately I don't know if one was ever done. Certainly not in that large a scale.

Well, there is a smaller one:

Think you may well have started a bit of a craze off here, have already been checking for supplies of Revell submarine kits, 1/125 U99 would appear to be about it, but seriously contemplating though was pretty dire at modelling in my youth, ah well, will have improved with maturity like a good wine or perhaps like a good cheese, will stink even worse
