I truly have no life. (building Revell's 1/72nd VIIC)

Last week I burned a smoking hole in my credit card and picked up Revell's 1/72nd scale Type VIIC U-Boat. Started puting it together over the last few days. Wow, what a kit! This thing is huge, over 36 inches long. It comes with a stand which has proven quite handy for building in such a small work area (see pics). I'll post more pics once the paint's dry. (Sorry about the crappy color.)

It looks as though this U-boat may be in dry dock for some time. Good luck, keep us updated with your progress.

Thats a great model....lots of extras out there you can add also if you want to really detail it.....here is a pic of mine.... modeled after Das Boot obviously... http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4...1100021vj4.jpg

Yeah, I've got one still in the box...

In my case I was wanting to do the R/C conversion. I've got the dive bladder, air pumps, WTC, and radio... just haven't had the time to put in the orders for the rest of the gadgets. I still need a few servos, some linkages, and electric motors. I'll probably also need a good drill press and a new dremmel tool before I can really get started.

Are any of the parts photo etched (railings etc.) ? :hmm:

Nothing was photo-etched in my kit...

Good news is there's a lot of aftermarket stuff specifically for this kit, bad news is you're adding like another $30-50 to an already expensive kit.

@ Slick Rick

Love the coloring and weathering on your hull BTW.

Any tips you can share?

Skookum, I take offense at your thread title. Building models is a major part of life, and very rewarding. I would rather build a good model than...well, I have no life either, so don't listen to me.:rotfl:

Once you finish that one, you can go hunt down their 1/72 Flower class Corvette.

Or for an easier job, try one of the two schnellboot kits.
