Default SH5 back to WW1?

as knowing that the SH series are one of the great sub sims out there

instead of switching between the PTO and Atlantic theater

why not going back to the Submarines of WW1?

for what I have read on the internet it where wild times.
just imagine that you can just die because your submarine has too many malfunctions and can give up on you any time when you are in trouble.

Torpedo's in your submarine that explode even before you are able to get them launched, or batteries that release the deadly gas and sort.
but also the tension of the moments of unrestricted uboat warfare.
that at first you are forced too identify the merchant if it carries any that could help the war on the frontlines, and finally the day has come that the mesage appears that you can fire at will on every ship that supports your enemies. and sink those juicy dreadnoughts!

who would like to see that happen by the SH devs?

Not gonna happen.:p I mean most people I know have a sketchy understanding of WW2. Even if its a sim they always want to give it a mainstream edge, especially since SH3.

You say WW1 and everyone gets galssy eyed. Hell its pathetic but my province actually cut WW1 from the History 12 curriculum just to save cash on the exam cost.

I'd like to see it but the fact is that the PTO and Atlantic are proven to sell games and corporations don't take new risks very often. I might be wrong but... well since Red Baron, what was the last WW1 game you saw?

Is Red Baron still one of the better WWI flight sims? I am not a big flight sim player but I do like WWI aircraft

Considering the progressive trend of war games in general (even though SHIII is an almighty sim) from WWII to Vietnam to War on Terror, I have a feeling that SHV will tend to aim more towards the next naval conflict in the series. There wasnt much around Vietnam (that I am aware of) so I am guessing Cold War would be the next installment. Which means it will either work really well Hunt for Red October style, or sink like bernard playing with the ballast controls.

That would be cool, a random bernard syndrome on board, order 400 feet, you go down to 1750 feet....
Or active ping on silent running....
Better yet fire a torpedo which after a while it turns 180 and sets it for active...
It would be a great potential!!!!!

I like the "feel" of being a U Boat captain.Any other theater of war doesn't interest me as much. I didn't rush out and buy SHIV because of the way I feel (Phew!) and I probably wouldn't be too interested in WW1.

That said, there are plenty of people who did buy SHIV, and there may be plenty of takers for WW1.

I would really like SHV to be an updated and BUG FREE version of SHIII

What are we like? SHIV has only been out 5 mins and we're already talking about SHV

Spot on mate, someone once dreamed of a network where every computer in the world can talk to another. Dreaming is just the very start of something new

Default While we are dreaming

Why not a cold war goes hot version with fifties and sixties subs? there were some very interesting developments that came during that time including the first nuke driven subs and huge leaps forward in sonar and detection and ASW.

Again may not be that popular, but might be fun doing some sub chasing as well.

Just a thought.:hmm:

Oh I know that there will be one one day. But I doubt it'll be SH5. Just look at the bottom of the Forum lists for our "dream".

SH5 should be SH3 & SH4 rolled into one. Just a idea.
