I like Kiel for the activity (gwx) and St. Nazaire for the position.

Depends when and what type of career I am after.
Early war Wilhelmshaven, although Kiel is a nice place as well. In France Brest if I want a VII career around the UK, Lorient for IX type long patrols. (may be also because this is the region where I was born and I know the places irl)
In the Med Toulon as I know it as well...

Kiel for the eye-candy and Lorient for patrols. It's well positioned and you can reach the Atlantic quickly

Kiel gives me a homey feeling, especially with the Luftwaffe patroling overhead. Then comes Lorient.

Speaking of ports, wouldn't it be cool if we had something to do in port (as sort of reward). I envision a picture of a street with different doors. Depending on your renown, you could walk into one or all of the doors for some entertainment, maybe a chat room.

Lorient just for the Type IXs.

St. Nazaire for the ease of getting out to sea..... fast. And that's only because of being transferred there in my stock SHIII career. Also late in the war you'll get pounded by enemy bombers in St. Nazaire. So it's an especially exciting port.
