Default Odd problem with nonrandom random pinups

I am using the 50 Hi-Res Pinup Girls Randomized Pack from Tikigod. For those who don't know, SH3 Commander picks a random pinup and it should be available for viewing in the sonar shack. But something is not right, and I have had the same pinup for 3 missions in a row.

So I investigate...and I find that the pinup in the sonar station does not match the picture in
C:\ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Textu res\TNormal\tex\druck_radio_7.tga.

So SH3 Commander is indeed choosing a random druck_radio_7.tga file and sending it to the above directory, but the picture in the sonar station is not updating in the game to match the texture.

3 missions in a row with the same pinup. The crew is talking about mutiny!

Just be thankful that Bernard isn't offering to pose for a new one for the pinup!

What type of uboat are you in? druck radio 7 only randomizes the type VII uboat (so, you will only see new posters in the VIIB and VIIC). I didn't add randomization for the other uboats to keep the overall file size down. If you are using other uboats you can use a 3rd party renaming tool to copy paste and rename the druckradio7 file so you have it for all uboat types (since they use the same image template for the radio room)

The other thing is make sure you are using sh3 commander to launch your sh3 install, otherwise it won't apply the randomization folders. If you launch without sh3 commander, you will keep getting the last poster that was applied until you launch with commander again. Also make sure the folders enclosed are in your "Program Files\SH3 Commander\Random" directory as it says in instructions. You can use JSGME to apply packs to your sh3 commander directory.....I use it to swap stuff in and out of randomization folder.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it fixes your problem.

@ Tikigod

Thanks, you solved the problem. I'm in a Type IIA U-Boat, and the filename thingie was keeping me from seeing the pinup. I already confirmed that SH3 Commander is indeed sending the random file correctly. Your idea to use JSGME to handle the SH3 Commander directory is a good one. I will add it to the list.

I'm not sure if there is a pinup for the IIa I think there is but, in another file. It doesn't use the same template as the druck_radio_7.tga, druck_radio_9.tga, and druck_radio_21.tga version that I edited. Type 7, 9, and 21 uboats all use the same radio room template so you can rename the pinup file druck_radio_7.tga to druck_radio_9.tga or druck_radio_21.tga to see the pinups in the 9 and 21 uboats....but, you will need one of those renaming tools that rename large groups of files to make it easier to develop a randomization pack that will randomize all uboats. Like I said I only made one for the type 7 since that is the one used the most.

Well...there goes the easy fix for me. But the bulk renaming and/or JSGME idea is still a good one for the other U-boat types.

I found the file where they stash the pinups for the TypeIIA. Its called periscop_2.tga and has Donitz and a babe in it. I need to learn how to edit that file. Oddly enough, there is a Druck_2.tga that also has a babe but is not used on my U-Boat. My boat is using the periscop_2.tga as the texture containing the pinup.

Nothing is easy.

It is easy to add stuff in the tga files. Especially if you have GIMP(Freeware) or Photoshop. Just take any picture you want, and copy & paste it to the tga over the existing picture. Then save it in another folder so you don't overwrite original, and add it to the random folder Via JSGME.(Install JSGME in SH3 Commander folder)
