Ty Tarjak

Signal looks awesome, really vintage.

Wasn't there a real magazine by that name?
I'm guessing that's the look you're going for.

If Signal wasn't an internal military magazine,
Was it "a magazine for boys", as they would have said in the period?

It was a real magazine published before and during WWII by the German Porpoganda Ministry and it was published in several languages including English!

Quite a bit of info and some good cover shots here:

Knew I'd seen something like that before.
Thankx again TarJak.

What software did you use for the old paper-like effect?
It really does look like you've scaned a 60+ year old magazine.

Now if only I understood the full story with the private Grey Wolves jokes.

The jokes are just a bit of fun to keep the morale of the troops up whilst they work their butts off delivering the last version of the mod.

I used photoshop and created an overlay layer with embossed difference clouds to creat the effect. Once you know how it's pretty easy to do.

You don't need photoshop to do this. Just use Picassa go to the effects tab, select black and white and then add film grain to taste. All up about 4-5 clicks to make something like this. Not trying to diminish your efforts fogladh. I reckon it still looks good.

Hang never happen...

Spry and Prune fly for the RAF,
Von Grun sails for the Kriegsmarine,
Dennis Parker is secetary to the PM at the War office,
Seaman Stains does unspeakable things to Roger the Cabin Boy.

Hakahuru never heard of it. No records.
Sorry old boy, he, she or it doesn't exist.
Figment of someones imagination.

Your diminishing my efforts Tarjak :p

I use Arcsoft PhotoStudio. Add film grain and blur the image slightly. This is my favourite one. I messed about with the lighting a bit and have never managed to recreate it. Dont know what I did to be honest

No offense meant Fogladh. Just commenting on the tools needed as someone didn't want to have to use photoshop.

Disturbing Sinking.

Pictures taken by Flt Lt Prune, Pilot of RAF Coastal Command Sunderland.

HMS Hotpot was sunk yesterday, (Essex class carrier loaned by our American cousins). Apparently by multiple torpedos. Remaining destroyers in task group gave chase to an intermitant sonar contact. RAF Mosquito's also called in. Captain of the HMS White Pudding reports contact moving at 17 knots. Contact lost, assume Seaman Stains was operating ASDIC. 17 knots very disturbing, no explanation. Good friend of mine Dennis Parker has contacts with SOE, he claims to have some intelligence from Norway which might explain this.
