I suppose some would argue it helps the Allied cause merely by the fact it hinders the Germans in repairing their boats

whas it operation Chariot? the raid on the atlantic dock in st Nazaire?

The Allies sure felt it was worth it to blow up the only drydock on the atlantic large enough for the Tirpitz
