First of all i would like to say that i admire all of you ship modders out there, I love to see the work you make here.
Here it is, I want to have fun on my free time and mod a ship or two for my pleasure so i want to know what are the must have tools for editing, cloning, skinning a ship. I looked in the list of mod tools but i am not sure what i actually need and what-not. I never modded anything ![]() Sure i'll ******* a lot before i get something to look like a ship or something that actually looks seaworthy ![]() ![]() |

You should use Pack3d by Sansal, and Wings3d IMO. Pack3d is on this site for download, and you can find Wings3d by searching in any search engine.
There is also a very useful thread which has been made a sticky titled "Mod Request for More Ship Types" and which contains a lot of useful information which developed as time passed. You need a lot of free time to read it all though. ![]() |

I agree. Since I've never done 3d modeling before I like using Wings3d since it's simple. The interfaces for some of the other programs confuse me. Plus, wings3d is good with OBJ files (the standard model filetype for SH3).

Aright now i got both Pack3d and Wings3d, and i get into a problem opening files in Wings3d. I use Pack3d and open a .dat file ( in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sea\NCA_Hipper) from lets say NCA_Hipper.dat then i click export all it tells me where it is, till there im doing ok i hope.
![]() Then here is where it messes me up. I go in Wings3d try and open the "exported file", when i get where it was placed theres nothing in the folder. ![]() I need to change the "Wings File (*.wings)" into "All Files (*.*)" to see something and it gives me this ![]() I say to myself great .obj (i thought that wings3d supported .obj guess not.) i try and open a .obj file "NCA_Hipper.obj" then wings3d tells me that it can't open it. ![]() What am i doing wrong here? I hope this inst a noob question ![]() ![]() BTW: im using Pack3d 1.051121 and Wings3d 0.98.32b |
