Default Starting in your Patrol Zones (Like SH1)?

In SH1, you started out in your general patrol zone; eg, Sea of Japan, off Japan, Phillipines; without having to spend 2 hours transiting to the patrol area on time compression; does anyone think that this would be a worthwhile mod for SH3?

I know the people who value realism wouldn't like it; but those who don't have a lot of time would probably like it.

I'm sure it can be done, via a program such as SH3Cmdr.

Your only real problem would be to get JScones to program such a feature... Since I assume that the mass majority of kaleuns won't use it.

I reckon it could be done by changing the DeparturePointLong, DeparturePointLat and DeparturePointHeading settings for the next patrol in Careers_0.cfg. But I haven't tried it though.

Why would you want to do that and miss out on all the lovely air attacks in transit?

I'd think it would be more boring to be placed at the patrol zone automatically. I sink more ships ingress and egress of the patrol zone. Being stuck at a grid for 24 hours can be pretty boring.

Something will have to be done for SHIV however....every patrol will be like a patrol to South Africa.

A better TC system would do for SHIV, I think :hmm:

It's funny, but that's exactly what UBI said was going to happen with SHIII, but they changed they're minds after the overwhelming majority said they wanted to sail the boat there themselves.

Its much better this way. Sometimes i expend most or all my torpedo's before ever reaching my assigned grid, and once there, not see a damn thing.

The patrol's not about the destination. It's all about the strafing Catalinas and rotting sausages along the way...

if they'd have slapped in the milk-cows or similar- with a realism option to start from along side those rather than base they could have covered both ends of the market- for creative guys you can't help thinking sometimes that game devs lack a little something in the imagination dept

meantime folks can edit their LND campaigns files and alter the lat/long co-ordinates for one of the bases to where ever they like---only drawback being you end up with Lorient etc written on the map in the wrong location (only the word is misplaced --the port it self is where it belongs) but you can start from where you want---if you add a docked ship or sub there it can look ok--same thing---(was this the basis of the milk cow mod?)
