[GUIDE] How to run SH3 in Borderless mode|ANTI ALIASING FIX|

While searching for anti aliasing fix for my system I have found out a way to run Silent Hunter III in Borderless windowed mode.



What is borderless windowed mode?


Borderless windowed mode looks like fullscreen mode, but it's really windowed mode running at full-screen size with no borders.


Pros:


1. You can ALT TAB through different programs easily for example. While playing sh3 you can switch to google chrome without causing alt-tab bugs. Or you can minimize the game and do something else.


2. On some graphic cards(AMD) anti aliasing doesn't work in fullscreen(1920x1080) mode but works in windowed. Borderless windowed mode is a great way to avoid this problem.


3. Possible no sun halo fix some users don't get sun halo if they are using anti aliasing borderless window mode fixes it. But I am not sure if borderless fixes it for all systems. NEEDS MORE TESTING.


Cons:


Possible performance issues. Borderless windowed mode will slightly decrease fps but in more powerful systems its not noticeable.


Instructions


In order for the borderless window to work first MUST run silent hunter III in WINDOWED mode.
Launch the game
Options>Video settings and unselect fullscreen



Download borderless gaming program

After installation open the Borderless gaming program. Then launch the game.

Follow instructions in the picture after that the program should remember the settings in the future. Then press on the game window and program should do the job and maximize the screen. Everytime you launch the game you must open the borderless gaming program.

How to revert the settings. if you don't want it.

Close the borderless gaming program and the game.
Go to your game save folder
for me its C:\Users\Namai\Documents\SH3\data\cfg
Open main.cfg file in video section change FullScreen=no to FullScreen=Yes then save the file.

You can also alt-tab without the borderless gaming option but with it, it goes quicker which is great! What would be fantastic is that sh3 runs in windowed mode so you can do other stuff during long patrols. Once it gets interested you switch to full screen....

You can already do that a bit. Start in windowed mode -> Switch to full screen in borderless. Unfortunately you can switch back to windowed mode in the borderless app but sh3 stays full screen.
