Default OM Dark Waters mod

Can anyone tell me if they use OM Dark Waters, and how does it hold up against GWX and other SH3 Mega mods ? I was not aware of this mod, and I am interested to know if anyone has any feedback about how good or not so good it is in comparison.

Cheers !!!

By the way, I AM aware that this mod if for SH4 before anyone tells me that !!

hello mr trotski,
there is a whole, nother thread for Dark Waters.
https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=243322

i cannot speak for comparisons with SH3-GWX but if you want to play a meaningful Atlantic theatre in SH4, DW is the mod to do it.

one must keep in mind that Ubi never intended SH4 to be used for an Atlantic theatre. there are many hurdles for modding SH4 into the Atlantic and using the German Navy organization as opposed to the US organization, which is what SH4 was designed for.
i think it is pretty good for what it is.

if you decide to give it a try, please read the documentation on the download page.

Thanks for the reply, I shall certainly have a look at the thread, I am just surprised I have never come across this mod before, even though its been around a while.

Know you asked, primarily about Operation Monsun, but... wanted to mention about KSD II: ACE edition ( Eng. translation & improvement mega set up) that is also around & is for SH4 v1.5, as well. It, like Op. Monsun, is set up for SH4 uboat career mode.

KSD II: Ace, can be found here:

Hope that, as always, this info... is found to be, of help.

On, a side note...

I do both mod sets &... while SH3 modded, are good... better than playing SH3 stock.

The crew management, is a bit better, compared to 3. Still have to do some managing of the crew somewhat but is loads easier than its predecessor.

Add to graphics of damages done are more... improved, as well.

Then 1 thing, that's definitively a vast improvement, over 3, is... a more... Immersive, comprehensive career/patrol mechanics in 4

Is still some more room yet, for more improvements to 4 still, I believe & feel, yet to go...

Brilliant, I shall certainly check this out, yes I have watched a couple of YouTube vids on Dark waters, and it does look very pretty, except for the bloody White hats, those look awful, I am unsure of how accurate the wearing of white headgear was in the Kriegsmarine, but every other nation seemed to not wear white whenever possible. However that is a minor if irritating niggle. The other possible immersion down side maybe, the lack of an equivalent SH£ commander, unless there is one and I have somehow missed it for SH4.

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated.

I just started recently playing it, Loving it so far. Wish my beginner sub had more torpedoes, going back to port to reload I ran across a task force with two Brit battleships
