Default Switzerland bans face masking

The Swiss have voted for a ban on Burka, Nikab etc.

The result was 51.2% in favour of it. In 19 cantons the majority was 60% and more, only in five cantons a majority was against it.

The Swiss follow the French and Austrians, where such prohibitions are already in place.

I think the Danes are a likely candidate to follow rather sooner or later. Denmark also wants to bring its asylum migration to zero, in a bid to protect the homegrown culture and idnetity of the native Danes form getting overwhelmed by foreign infiltration (=Überfremdung).

Skybird mentioned Denmark in his starting post.

Here it is forbidden to cover your face in the public.

The law is called ( da = tildækningsforbud/Maskeringsforbud)-
(en = covering ban/masking ban)

This law was known as (da = Burkaforbud) (en = Burka ban)

The law came into effect in 2017.

Here's a funny thing about this law.

When the Danish government decided that the Danes should wear facemask in public transportation and later on in public stores a.s.o, due to this corona

Some officials in the Ministry of Justice pointed out that the covering ban made it impossible to introduce it.

So now this covering ban law is on hold for the moment.

It is a new immigrant's responsibility to fit in. The immigrant has to adapt to the cultural customs and traditions of his new home - not the other way around. Burqa and nikab are the most visible expressions one can think of for the fact that the person concerned has no intention of doing this and instead expects the locals to adapt to him (husband), to them. I would not legally sanction those affected - I would throw them out. Because of cultural incompatibility.

But you are expected not to speak that out loud. If you do, you are "xeniphobic", "islamophobic", "racist", right-populistic". Which all, in this context, implies that the native population in its own home place has no right to defend its own cultural and historical grown identity.

As far as nin-refugee migration is concerned, I also demand reciproity. Fredoms and guarenttes of sefatey enjoyed by foreigners here, has to be guaranteed by their nations of origin for our people living there.

Which in case of the Arab world simply is not the case. Almost shamefully the media reported during the pope'S visit in Iraq that the Christian minority has shrunkf to one sixth of its former size 20 years ago. Jewish and Christian communities in every single Muslim country have shrunk, have drasticallyshrunk in every Muslim country since 20 years. In "befriended" Turkey Christians get systematically discriminated, Christian churches harassed. We currently experience worldwide the biggest persecution of Christians since the Romans. Most of it committed by Islamic factions and states.

The Swiss have voted that they do not want to turn the panorama of their home cities and home country to be turned into a sight from the Middle East. No face shields. Noi minarettes, therefore.

"How dare they...!"

You cannot be tolerant if you do not dare to stand for what you, yourself, are and what you stand for. Necessarily that also means to dare to define what you are not, and must not want to be turned into. Tolerance is not to let the other unconditonnaly have his ways in your place. that is not tolerance, but weakness. Only the strong is capable to practice tolerance, at his will and conditions, certainly.

Throughout Europe, places with strong Muslim sub communities are impldoing thje social and cultural. order of the hosting nation. And resosting to that always is beign called islamophobia and xenophobia and racism. They know all too well which buttons to press to make Westerners shying away and falling back.

I just can't agree with the idea this manner of dress for women should be permitted in today's western society. Banning those face coverings is not xenophobic. Any muslim scholar I think will tell you the koran's guidance on dressing 'modestly' is subject to interpretation, one need only look at the various ways muslim women dress. The banning of those face coverings should simply be looked at as western societies interpretation of modesty. Here society says you can dress modestly without having some religious interpretation demand you wear a potato sack over your head or be blamed and brutally beaten because someone else happened to look at your face. Maybe the 1st generation of immigrant women and especially the men who demand these burdens may find it difficult to adapt. But the next generation especially the women will very likely greatly appreciate the freedom from religious oppression.

This isn't about being anti-muslim or anti-religion or xenophobic, you want to worship your god, baa baa ack, chutlulu, or your pet rock, go for it. But its also perfectly fine for western society to define modesty and we dont treat women like cattle here. What I find really heartbreaking is that even in this present day and age we're still having to enact laws to protect women from religious fanaticism and barbaric cave man ways of thought.

The irony of it is that in many places you have mandatory mask wearing due to covid...

Brings to the fore the realisation that just over a year ago you weren't allowed into a high street bank wearing a mask and now you aren't allowed in unless you are wearing one

Wonder what would happen if you went in to a bank wearing a covid-19 mask with "I rob banks" printed on it!! Could be interesting, I suppose printing "this is a stickup" would be pushing it a bit!
