Default Sir Ringo Starr

http://variety.com/2017/music/news/s...ed-1202650275/

This article doesn't mention his lovely voice-overs to the "Thomas The Tank Engine" series, for which he deserves much credit; I didn't like any of the later voice-actors half so much

Well deserved. In a field where so many 'stars' are lionized over their excesses and shenanigans, Ringo is someone more known for his skill, wit, and generosity. In the 1979 Beatles bio-pic, there is the following exchange between John Lennon and Beatle's manager Brian Epstein:

Quote:

John, I want you to remember something. No single one of you is The Beatles. Each one of you is a part. Paul is the heart of the group, George is the soul, you're the mind.

John Lennon: And Ringo?

Brian Epstein: He's the flesh and blood.

If the one thing anyone is known for in their life is just being a good human being, it beats any other accolade...

Congratulations, Sir Ringo...

I always did get a kick out of seeing his name in the credits when my boys used to watch Thomas save the day on our DVD player... You wouldn't hardly recognize his voice, unless you knew it was him... or were used to the Yellow Submarine cartoons on US TV way back when...

I'm glad to hear that you also enjoyed "Thomas" with your boys, beanie... we'll never ever get rid of those DVDs and, on the odd occasion that Lawrence puts one on still, I make sure I sit through it too.

This is certainly a different socialisation.. Thomas the Tank is more or less unknwon in non-Uk Europe, and even if it were broadcasted here, it would have received a german dubbing, so his timbre and sound would not be recognized.
But for being one of the Beatles, and his music and films alone, this is well deserved

(If you have any regard for royal awards and titles they themselves invented )
