Well, you can rule out TMO as being the cause. 450 cal guns are bow mounted for me.

Do you know any of your mods that change UPC files?

Click and drag on text to highlight, CTRL C to copy. Switch to the post window, CTRL V to paste.

As for default bow deck gun there's a ready made mod for that;

If I try doing it myself I go into the sh4 tmo2.5 mod and go to data/submarines/ pick my sub and open the upc file make the changes try to save but I am denied permission to make the change.

..So should I go to my documents file and open my active player unit and change it their??? Do I have to be in port?? Will I have to do it for all subs I receive??

Microsoft should have keelhauled the idiot who came up with UAC, it complicates the hell out of tech support.

Is this YOUR computer you're doing this on? If it's someone else's computer go get your own, if it's YOUR computer then Microsoft has no right to control how you use it. Run As Administrator, disable UAC, if you're going to make modifications to a game you can't have the operating system denying permission to make modifications.

I have just been given a nice new Gato..I am in port at surabaya.I have the uac set to lowest setting,now how do I get a 4.5in forward deck gun??? The sim offers 4.5in stern and bow or stern,and 3.5in stern or bow..

I don't know how you would hack the save file since I generally start a new career instead, my experience with hacking save files is that it sometimes works without crashing, then when you return to port and start a new patrol the game resets to default or even screws it up so you have no deck gun at all.

So what you're looking at there is the 4 inch 50 isn't available at all in stock until New Years Day 1944. Change them all to Upack4in50calDGBow (or 5 inch 25 if you prefer) or change all the dates to NULL so you can pick whatever you want whenever. Then delete all your save game files and start a new career, otherwise you'll be dealing with more complication.

all you should need to do is go to your mods folder and then look for the tmo folder, that should give you access to the files that you need to change.
then follow Sniper's direction.
this does work because I did this and I can get any of the guns at a new career.
