Has anyone else had this? When in harbour, the lighthouse lights can be seen shining through everything. You can see a bright spot of light through the heads of the crew (not just through their ears either) and through buildings.
Is there a mod that corrects this, or, is there a way to tweak settings to eliminate this?

I eliminated this SH3 stock bug some years ago.
Do you know S3D? You have to edit the particle creation of the lighthouse flare in the harbors.dat file. If you are familiar with s3d I can tell you further steps.
If not... just send me your harbor.dat file from your library folder!

Regards
Han

@Fahnenbohn

The solutions is very simple once you know the problem
To fix the Light House Flare just do the following:

1.Open the harbor_kit.dat with S3D
2.Have look for the node: Generic_Light_house
3.Open the Node: Light_House_Flare
4.Go to Particle Generator
5.Have a look for the Bitmap Particles (3 should be there)
6.Open each Bitmap Particle
7.Change the value "DepthTest" -> true

Once you save the harbor_kit.dat the Light House Flare should be fixed and not shine anymore though things. Also land and hills, I think.

Best Regards
Han

Cool, your solution is working. But the halo is now hidden in the tower, because the glasses are not transparent ! That would be very nice if you or someone else could create new and diverse light houses, with transparent glasses.

I know that its working ... the lighthouse in WAC4.1 is working with the fixed flare.
Have a look at it!
I could create new lighthouses if I find good 3d models... also different coloured lights... but placing them into the landscape is a another thing... maybe you wanna do that? In WAC are many lighthouses. If you have the knowledge of the different locations with the correct light you could help.

Hi HanSolo78,

could you please give some more details about how you solved the window/halo problem? That would be great!

Best, LGN1

Which details do you mean?
I described the workplan for S3D in my upper post.

With proper 3d model, and HanSolo fix, all is looking good.

Hi,

thanks for the replies!

As I understand it, the fix also requires changes to the 3d model of the lighthouse (windows). It would be great to know what exactly needs to be changed there.

The most easy way is to delete the small 3d object which blocks the new fixed halo. This small 3d object does not really matter.
The advanced way is to extract the small 3d object which blocks the halo and then add it as an additonal object to make it work like a glas.
