Default Just had my first Viktor kill

He was within 1.5 nm and he fired 2 fish, I wedged an active and a passive decoy between his LOB and me, his fish ate decoys like real good, so I decided he must be within 2.5 so I quickly pin a Zulu on the map, launch 3 ADCAP at it, and soon I hear his TPK rising from 4 to 31 kts so he must be ****ting his pants... Sonar reports loud explosion on his bearing, with my 3rd fish just leaving the tube, I shut it down and head south.

Any idea how to recon the rebels surface in Petropavlovsk mission (Campaign mission 1, 688i)? Do I sneak between the ships to the harbor bay and mark the 2 Udaloys or just send a UUV to pick them up?

Sorry, were you in the Viktor or did you sink one?

Either way, good job, must've been satisfying

Good Hunting! I remember when I bagged my first Oscar - a real challenge to get into a good firing position (keeping out of Shkval range) and then avoid the fish that came at me - a great feeling when I won the day.

The first mission is rather anticlimactic as a 688i. Just get up to periscope depth and mark/take a photo of everything you see in the periscope! Or you could try it in a P-3 or do the Akula version, both are more involved.

I did take a peri mark on all ships outside Kamchatka/Petropavlovsk bay but I think I need to position myself northeast from the starting position, on the eastern lip of the entrance, so I can better photograph those two.

Just bagged a Sierra II blockading the Etorofu Strait, in the Kuril Island Chain. I was in a Flt I 688.

It was hard to stay stealthy and also keep up with his 5kt speed. Detected him on the TA at 20,000 yds. He was heading straight for the east coast of Iturup Island.

Even though I was at 24,000 yds, dead astern, he had land blocking his way ahead - I had to take the shot (3xMk 48s, 30 second spread)

2 hits and the 3rd went right past the destroyed sub. I was never detected.

I good bit of "payback", because a Sierra thumped me west of the Hebrides a few weeks ago!

Lol I remember playing in a victor III in RA mod, I probably could have taken you. I actually found out at close to medium range when the torpedo is launched with activation range set closer to actual range, doing the red October turn into the torpedo trick works great. I've tricked a ADcap a couple times like that, launch an active and a passive countermeasure, turn into the torp, try to get behind it before it arms, then go deep and quiet. I also find it works great when you fire a snapshot at the other guy, he runs away at flank speed and can't hear that I ran in, and will stumble right into me later thinking I'm farther away then I was XD

Just bagged a Mike Class SSN in the Strait of Otranto with a Flight II LA boat.

Quite strangely, the signal on Narrowband was patchy - wavy lines, then no wavy lines, etc...I checked the "truth" view and it turned out that he was on the surface!

It was a rush to unload the 48s and reload 2 Harpoons - but I got the birds away - one of the rare times a Sub is killed with Harpoons!

He fired a SUBROC back at me - but I followed the advice in the guides to not use decoys - just clear datum and go deep. The torp never acquired me!
