Default Adjusting SH5 Map

Hello,
I recently got a copy of sh5 and I am having a small issue with the popup (tab-activated) map screen - I don't know exactly what it is called. The game runs fine as long as that map is minimized, but as soon as I bring it up at either the small or large views I take a massive frame rate hit and everything begins to lag. There is no problem with the full screen map view that is activated with "M", just the smaller mini-map.

What I would like to do is either disable the mini-map completely, or adjust its display levels so that it only goes from large to nothing - (right now it is either small, large, or minimized..I would like to remove the small view so that it is only large or minimized). Is this possible, and if so where should I look to accomplish this task?

Thanks to all in advance,

SMH

If you use TDW New UI's you can set with TDW user options file editor /viewer TAI map initial height and width to 0 and the map will disabled...It's useless anyway...

Thanks, I have looked at the TDW mod and would like to use it in the future, but on my current machine it kills the fps almost as bad as the map does. Any way to disable the mini-map in stock?

Hi nonakosa

Try this.

Antilag By Kegetys > Curing Lagging - Stutter - Seizures

Oddly enough, I had just re-surfaced from testing antilag when I saw this post. It may help, but it is difficult to tell.

I should provide some details about my pc - apologies for not doing so sooner. I am running SH5 on an i5 with 8 gb of RAM and an intel HD 4000. To be honest, I was surprised that the game loaded at all, so my expectations are not terribly high. I have managed to get a stable 30-40 fps by setting all of the graphics options to low, disabling all of the graphics options check boxes, and scaling the resolution down to 1280x720. This makes the game playable, and it still looks quite nice..it's just the TAI map that kills the frame rate.

Antilag may give me an extra frame or 2 here and there, more thorough testing is required, but the TAI map definitely cuts the frame rate down to 15-20 whenever it is on screen. It is for this reason that I am looking for an easy way to disable it. I have loaded the new ui mod, and I like the way the map is handled in that UI, but as I have previously mentioned I am not currently able to run that mod on my machine. If there is a similar way to deal with the TAI map in stock I would love to here it, otherwise I am starting to learn to deal with it by just pressing shift+tab everytime it appears on the screen.

Thanks again for all of the help,

SMH
