Weird mystery message..

Hey all, top of the morning to you all!

I have a quick question, and hopefully someone will know whats going on. I'm running Sober's list, mostly complete. Everything works fine, aside from some random crashes that I'm trying to iron out. My problem isn't with the crashing, I'm reading and learning whats causing those, but I haven't found anything regarding this weird message that flashes on my screen from time to time. No matter whether the time compression is all the way down, it flashes too fast to even know what it's about. All I can tell its a black background with white lettering. All the other radio messages are working fine ("I" key, "Q" key). Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions, Matt

I'm sorry I cannot help you but as no one is replying to you I thought you could do with a bit of company.

My only suggestion is to put your mods up as it is not possible to actually see your problem.

With a bit of luck if it is your mods then it is solvable.

Thanks for your reply, it's a strange issue indeed. It could even be a hardware related error message (overheating GPU, etc.), and not even game related at all.

I started with Sobers list and added a few(Lifeboats, external cargo, etc.). I used other modlists to figure out what has to go in what order. Thanks again for your reply, it 's not even that big of a deal, the game works fine for the most part, I just don't want to miss a message that could be important if it is "in-game" and not hardware.

Sobers best ever fog v27 SH5 new update.

Sobers storm clouds v2 SH5 new update.

IRAI_0_0_41 new update.

OHII is now v2.5 recommend you update

SH5 External Cargo can cause ctd’s

SH5 Lifeboats ctd ??

Ok thank you for the info, I was aware that the two interior mods had conflicts but I read in one of the threads that were compatible in the right order. I'll disable the "silentmicheal" mod and see if it helps. Thanks for the heads up about updates, I didn't realize they they were that crucial, but I knew that some of the mods must have been out of date by now, I had downloaded "sober's mega mod" and it came with most of these, (of course I added the ones it's didn't include) but it took me a while to figure out how to make them show up in JSGME. I'm a noooob when it comes to mods. I'll definitely check out your tutorials, there's still a lot I'm not understanding, again aside from trying to figure out if the message that flashes across the screen is game related, the game works very well. Mostly I get crashes in the "museum", which I've read both that it's not a big deal, and that it causes crashes in game because the ship that causes the crash in museum won't render in game. I also had a crash after sinking a Nelson battleship, that I was able to reproduce a second time, I didn't get the crash when I let the Nelson go. I didn't find anything about that when I searched. Thanks again for your help, I'm still learning, both how to play the game, and how to use mods and patches. I try to read and learn as much as I can on my own, but it's tough with some of the threads having as many pages as they do, so I truly appreciate the advice.

Subscribe to the threads like OHII, TDW NEWUI, and Sobers Mega Mod.

You can check these out on a daily basis and then you can keep up with any changes and important information.

Check out my Post #35 and Post#38.

I keep Sobers Mod List up to date alongside the mods I actually use in my own game play. I do not use Sobers Mega Mod List but I assume Sober does as it is after all the list he puts out and updates.

V2.3.1 was a short interim adaption from v2.3. it was followed by v2.4 which was really not the finished product and I personally had problems with it. I switched to SH4 while waiting for v2.5 to come out. This seems to be a big improvement on what has gone before it and as I said before I would recommend that you upgrade to it which I am sure can be done in the bunker.

Thanks again for all your help, guys like you are what make SUBSIM.COM so great, you're patient with guys like me who are still learning, I'll update my mods and see if it fixes the random crashes. I think I have narrowed the mystery message down to a hardware problem, most likely my overclocked video card. I used bandicam(which only picks up DirectX video) to record my gameplay last night, after the message popped up, I viewed the video so I could slow it down and read the message, however the message was not captured in the vid, leading me to believe that it's not "in-game" after all. :thumbup:

Not at game computer at the moment. Had both of these mods installed for months. silentmichals 1.2.4 mod always installed after Steel Viking mod and its' patch. silentmichals mod never caused CTD. My last modlist is probably posted within the last two months. I can not recall what thread I posted it, too, if you want to search for it. All I can remember about mods is: I was using OHII version 2.4 and patch at the time of the modlist. I know now that OHII is at version 2.5.
