Default Yamato BB... No more

I got my first Yamato BB today. Caught the task force ( 3 BBS, 1 Heavy Cruiser, 2 Light Cruisers, 8 Destroyers) leaving the Philippines in June of 44.

I was carrying a mixture of 18s and 14s. I fired a salvo of 6 torpedoes all using magnetic set to run just under her keel. I got 4 hits which slowed her down a couple knots. I them went deep and luckily evaded the DDs sonar.

I plotted their course prior to my attack and made and end around keeping the TF just on the tip of my radar. I repositioned myself on their course and waited for a little light from the coming sun to make another attack. The DDs again didn't detect me and I moved in the fire a salvo of 6 18s at 2600 yards getting 5 hits. This slowed her down to 4 knots and she started list to port. The DDs didn't seem to know what to do without wakes to chase down so I swung around and fired a salvo of 4 14s from me rear tubes. I got 4 hits but the 3rd one was the final. She went dead in the water, rolled over, and sunk.

The DDs now went ballistic on me and made run after run. I took some damage but went really deep and evaded. Damn those Yamato BBs can take some damage. 12 hits to put her under and 9 of these were spaced the length of the hull with most detonating under the keel.
