Default Sometimes it’s homophobic, sometimes it's sexist, and a lot of times it’s racist

What I do with my friends is not up to America to dictate to me. ... The language we use, sometimes it’s homophobic, sometimes it's sexist, and a lot of times it’s racist. We do that when we’re joking with our friends, and it’s nothing personal.

Paraphrased to suit me
In the lockeroom it's ok...

+1

ALL locker rooms are this way.

"What I do with my friends is not up to America to dictate to me. ... The language we use, sometimes it’s homophobic, sometimes it's sexist, and a lot of times it’s racist. We do that when we’re joking with our friends, and it’s nothing personal."

This is great.

Stuff like this keeps reenforcing my theory that society is too soft these days.

That all depends on what neighborhood you happen to be in.Some the people are soft in others the only thing soft is the sole of the shoe pressing your face into the street.

Agreed. I blame society for me being a wuss.

Well, think about it this way.

Back when our older members here grew up, they weren't told "Everybody is a winner" and "No matter what you do, it's okay"

I grew up like that...but a lot of people are being raised to be victims because no matter what they do, they're okay and nobody will judge them.

I grew up knowing that there can't be 4 winners...there is one winner and you don't get there by just participating.

We're getting lazy IMHO. And soft....because nobody wants to offend anybody anymore. I'll use P.E. as an example. I guarantee Physical Education classes in 1960 were a lot different than they are now.

Now, no matter what game you are playing, you have the right to be offended and the right to get upset and make a big stink over somebody calling you a dummy...and the right to quit/not participate/do your own thing because of it. All because you were raised thinking that everybody is a winner and everybody is equal in sporting events no matter the score. No matter what happens, you are you and that's good enough for society.

Every time there's a bullying case in the news or something similar, it just adds to this IMHO.

People need to suck it up and learn to take it, because you can't be a winner in life by "just participating" and I think the way we teach kids early on is causing society to go soft.

"Oh. It's okay. He's a winner no matter what" has gone way too far.

I think all these people who are being "bullied" need to learn to stand up for themselves.

Just one of my opinion-theories. I remember hating a youth basketball league I signed up for because it was this way and I would tell them at the end of the games that "there can't be two winners. There's the team that won and the team that lost" and I was probably around 9 or 10 at the time.

However....

There is a point where the hazing and bullying can be a problem. I believe in a little bit of both here. If it is a problem, then don't be afraid to 1) stand up for yourself or 2) consult a higher authority on what you should do.

I'm probably going to light the forum on fire with this one if I go any further....so I'll stop now.

I have had to explain to several women that this is how males communicate with their friends. However, there is always one jerk in a group who crosses the line and if someone will not stand up for themselves, they will keep on.Often, it is because the bully feels threatened by the victim and is trying to establish dominance, test the waters.Problem is in our PC society, as mentioned, the victim who fights back often gets in trouble for doing so.Incognito is a jerk, he just looks and acts like a big, dumb, over aggressive, jerk who is not far from being a knuckle dragger. I am glad he is suspended and being called out, but think Martin was a bit of a punk for not standing up for himself because all Incognito needed was an ass kicking.

Yea, I got blasted for calling Martin a wimp/pus on FB. Tons of women mouthing how bullying hurts people, better not to confront, etc. The fact is that is typical behavior with sports teams. I agree Incognito is scum and should be dealt with, but Martin is the example of the typical entitled quitter...You don't give up your dream over a punk, nor quit and run home to mommy as he did....It's an insult to the numerous black players that went through real racism and stayed the course.

I called a friend of mine gay because his wife kept him in the house when we were all partying.

Does that make me homophobic?

I was called the n word in an online FPS by some squeaky voiced 12 year old, I laughed, does that make me rascist?

Someone on this forum called me a moron, ok alot of people called me a moron here.

I am bullied, I am hiring a lawyer and suing Neal.

Bawww words hurt!

Thicker skin people, I mean that not for this site, but for the world.

Why do words hurt so much these days,? We have gotten way too hyper sensitive.

As a hyper-sensitive person, I agree 1,000,000%.

I'm really sick of being insulted by everything I disagree with

If you guys could send me insulting PMs, I'd probably get over it

I'm not joking, I'm absolutely serious

There will come the day when people get sued for the consequences of having moved out of bed in the morning.
