I think I've seen this re-run before.

I'm thinking the article is intended to
a.) Make the tea party look bad.
b.) Further stoke the fires of polarization for ratings.

As for any civil war, I think the conditions are ripe enough to make it plausible, but at the same time highly unlikely because:

a.) Presidential term limits. Most rational people would wait and see.

b.) The government won't allow it. It will do whatever it takes to maintain status quo. Any person, or groups of persons, considered "rabble rousers" will encounter some very effective "tools" in discrediting and quieting them before they can do anything meaningful or effective.

I think the country is getting more divided. Civil war? Highly unlikely.

Unfortunatly you are correct tensions in the USA are higher than they where at the time of the start of the civil war. Though I do know that the military has been running exorcizes in cities and towns including low flying.

As to how the country will be divided thats up in the air it might be country(politicians) vs people (more of a revolution though), rich vs poor, or party vs party. I have spent a long thinking about this but IMHO is going to be inevitable as there are so many parallels between pre civil war and now.

I read two paragraphs, stupid. This country isn't close to a CW and certainly no group could take or hold a city.

Sure, we'll probably see chaos down the road if the economy goes under in a big way, but no CW.

I think the country is definately becoming more divided, or polarized. I know I have become polarized lately. I used to not care and was indifferent, now I find i harbor a seething hatred for the left. Though I am unsure if it is the extreme left that is the object of my ire, or just the left in general. Haven't figured that out yet. I do know that I see the liberal progressive movement as a dangerous ideology that will erode our liberties in preference for a larger, more reaching government until any 1984 metaphor's are an undeniable cold hard reality.

Exactly."Progressivism" , which is rooted in marxism to be honest, is the most dangerous ideological force around today.

I'd say stupidity is a far greater danger.

It is at least more widely spread

It's divided among smaller groups, not entire states. I know, same cow pile division here in the old country.

The way I see it, if a CW will erupt in the US, the first 2 floors of an apartment complex will raise the confederate flag, while 3, 4, 6 and 8 floors will remain in the Union and 5 and 7th floors will want to join Canada. The penthouse will be invaded by Russia.

I see a trend that will not stop in the near future. The trend of the dependent on the government. With each new bill comes a new entitlement. With each new bill comes more votes for the same group creating and passing these bills without a care for anything other than pandering for votes in the next election. It is not about for the good of the people anymore. It is for the good of careers of those signing bills that they have yet to read. IMO, DC is wildly out of control and ignoring any of the parchment of rules and regulations drafted over 100 years ago. Because, well, they know better.
