Default Glendora police nearly open fire on amateur crew filming fake robbery

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...0,968156.story

Not particularly sensational news but this happens to have happened in my town. I go to that coffee shop all the time, i know this small city like the back of my hand. Glendora is a very nowhere, in-between town, known mostly for its good school system but not much else. This could've ended very, very badly for everybody involved.

In a way its ironic because my dad did the exact same thing way back when he was in college, while he lived in Tucson. He and his buddies decided to film a fake robbery at a convenience store complete with blanks and i guess nobody informed the police. It wasn't long before the cops showed up and almost shot my dad and his classmates. Both incidents were completely the student's faults. Both could've rendered a couple people dead or injured.

Construction Workers working on a billboard got trapped 130 ft in the air after their mech lift failed today too in Glendora. Not the best day for this town i guess. Its sad that this is about as much crazy as this town can handle, nothing ever happens here because this town has little to offer besides its schools and quiet suburbia.

Edit: A baskin robbins 150 yards away got plowed into by a porsche. This is the second time that exact baskin robbins got hit by an expensive sports car driven by a teenager.

Perhaps this is a good reason to apply for a permit. One good purpose of a permit is that it lets the right people know what is going on.

What a bunch of maroons.

Really.

Many years ago our old tourist steam train, the "Heber Creeper" was forced to an emergency stop by an idiot lying on the ties with a video camera in his hands. "I just wanted to get a shot like you see in the movies. You know, the one where the train rolls over the camera?"

I just finished watching a bunch of extra goodies from a movie, showing how streets are blocked off for chase and action scenes, so nobody gets hurt and nobody has any doubts what's going on. Of course permits are applied for and money spent. Some people need to learn how to do what they want to do before actually trying it.

The moral being....notify the necessary authorities and get a permit.

Quite simple really.
