Brother, 12, arrested in fatal stabbing of 8-year-old California girl

Crikey!

Quote:
Authorities have arrested a 12-year-old boy in the fatal stabbing of his 8-year-old sister at her home in a quiet Northern California community last month.
Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz told reporters at a news conference that the boy was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and will be charged with homicide, Fox40.com reported. ......

Talk about a family totally destroyed. Not only was their daughter murdered, but, if found guilty, their son was the murderer. That's gonna be tough to deal with.

Like many things, I just don't understand. When I was a kid, I hated my brother..... a lot. I probably fantasized about killing him, but it would never had occurred to me to do anything like this.

What is it about the newer generations that even gives then the idea of taking violent actions? I hated a lot of my teachers when I was in middle/high school... a lot. But to actually take violent action against my teachers/school never entered my mind.

I just don't get it.

If this is the same reported last week where the brother claimed a gray haired intruder stabbed his sister, I knew then that something just wasn't right about his story.

its simple really, as soon as they decided you cant spank your own children and made it illegal the kids knew they no longer had to face any punishment for their bad actions (time outs? please, that's a joke and the kids agree). after that its just a matter of time before they no longer respect or acknowledge authority of any kind and act out as they wish.

I am not in favor of abusing kids but a good spanking isn't abuse its a tool used for years to instill respect and a fear of doing wrong. kids have no morals or respect for anyone anymore because they have never had to pay a price for disrespecting anyone

I know the liberals will cry and moan about what I said but their silly liberal ideas interfered with parents raising their kids and deciding how to punish them and what and when the kids learn about sex, marriage, being gay, government, and the rule of law are the main reason kids act the way they do these days. when kids were raised with good conservative faith based values they didn't even think of acting the way kids do today.

For all you know the parents may have been extremely abusive or perhaps the kid is just insane.

You are making an awful lot of assumptions as to the cause of what happened.

I'm obviously unaware or sure about any of the facts of this case but the odd spanked bottom from my mother as a kid never did me any harm.

Go cut me a switch!
A good @ss whipping instilled respect and usually obedience. In the start of my 66 years I had my butt tanned a few times and I quickly learned to obey.

That was bull last time it was claimed and is still bull now.
No state in the US has made it illegal.

Even if someday they do ban beating children, history shows your claim is rubbish anyway.

I get the impression from some posters here that if a meteorite fell on their house they'd find a way to blame it on 'Liberals'...

And others would blame it on 'Conservatives'. It comes from both sides, you know.

As to the topic, I never wanted to kill anybody. I was whipped plenty, and looking back I have to say I deserved it. I was never hurt, though, and never abused, though sometimes I acted like it. My sister never got any of that, and we actually turned out very much the same, both good and bad. If my kids disobeyed, I gave them a warning - a warning that if they continued they would be spanked. Funny, but usually the warning was all that was needed.

The beauty of that post in question(apart from the clear factual errors) is that it is a small rural conservative christian neighbourhood that votes republican.
So that would probably cover the good conservative faith based values even if the family hadn't held a prayer vigil after the tragedy.
