Has anyone else noticed that the three officers in the control room are complete rip-offs from Das Boot? You've got the uptight XO, the Chief Engineer who's worried about his wife, and in the novel it turns out that the Navigator served in the Kaiserlichemarine in WWI, just like the one in SH5.

Yep, the LI and the IWO especially are virtual carbon copies of their Das Boot counterparts. As you said, the IWO is an uptight Nazi with good connections, and the crew hates him. The LI's story is straight out of the movie. Really not very imaginative on Ubisoft's part. Maybe they thought giving the IWO an eye-patch would fool us?
