RFB and RSRDC

Hey hey!

I'm in a rookie predicament at this point in time, I'm fairly new to the mod aspect of this and how you go about getting them to update...

I do have JSGME but I'm trying to get RSRDC_SH15_V550 and RFB 2.0 to co-exist with each other at the moment with little success because whenever I launch the game I get to the loading screen and get a string of files that could not be found and I think they have something to do with different optics in the game.

I have the RFB 23April2010 patch ready now but am wondering how to go about patching RFB without feeling like I'm trying to defuse a nuclear bomb as I'm unfamiliar with the mod aspect of this game it's a change of pace

Cheers

Note: I double posted, one in the comments thread where I didn't believe that belonged

Welcome aboard!

Simply install the patch in the same way you installed RFB with JSGME.
Like so:

RFB 2.0
RFB 23April2010 patch
RSRDC_SH15_V550
other mods (if any)

You will get a warning from JSGME about overwriting files, but this is normal.

Got further on the loading screen just hit the same problem again

A string of files that were not found, here is a couple of them..

File not found: data/menu/Skins/American/gui/Layout/bl_binocular.tga

File not found: data/menu/Skins/American/Gui/nomograph.dds

Then soon after I click ok on these messages, the game stops working and I'm back to square one.

Perhaps you should check the folders make sure that the files are there. If not, you might have to do a manual install.

You might have a bad download, try putting them in one at a time and run the game.

Make sure you unzip the proper folder to the "Mods" folder created by JSGME for each mod.

Other problem maybe where you installed the game. Do not use the programs files folder with Vista or above. Make a games folder and install there.

Good luck Magic

I'm not sure how to proceed here.

Did the game run ok without any mods?

You might check the contents of your /mods folder. Each mod should have a folder with the mod name, /RFB_2.0, for example. This folder should contain (ONLY) a folder named /data. If the /data folder is not the only thing you see there, then you have not unpacked the files correctly. If that is your problem, the easiest way to proceed would be to post what you DO see inside the named mod folders and someone here will be able to tell you what you need to do next.

After the fresh install, plz make a copy of the whole data folder so you don't have to reinstall every time the game has gone FUBAR.

Credit goes to the one who told me (Webster).

Install JSGME and make a snapshot of the game prior any mod install, that way you alway's have a reference to the original copy.
You can run a comparison whenever you want (only make sure no mods are installed).

EDIT: its under "tasks"

thats because the RSRDC you have is wrong, for RFB you have to use RSRDC v575 and NOT v550

v550 is only for the stock game and is not to be used with TMO or RFB

you have to read the info with mods and make sure you install them correctly and are using the correct versions of mods that go together

Thanks for the tip. I just re-installed SH IV today after quite a long time, and I was having issues getting this to work.
