Default Where did he get the gun?

Unbelieveable!! Handcuffed, in the back seat of a police car, a student still shoots himself!! Where did the gun come from??

Difficult to make a general statement with connection to a criminal investigation going on, speculations are also there, the possibility exists that the person is not backwardness strip-searched under current rules, or that there were additional weapons in the picture, which did not arrive in the first visits search.

I can come up with two ways this could have happened right off the top of my head.

The first is simply that the arresting officers either failed to search the kid or did it poorly.

The second is that one of the many people that have ridden in the back of that same car where not properly searched and stuffed a gun they that wished to no longer have possession of into the seat which the kid then found.Lots of people stuff evidence into the backs of police cars while they are riding in them and likely save themselves from serious jail time by doing so think on you feet as they say or on your seat. For this reason some departments use modeled rear seats that make stuffing evidence impossible at least not into the seat cushions.

Two very realistic possibilities

Shot himself in the head with his hands cuffed behind his back. Would like to have more information on the location of the wound.

Gotta be one of these four choices

1. He had the gun and the frisk missed it
2. He found a gun in the car
3. Someone gave him a gun after being frisked
4. Well we won't want to think about the forth choice.

Upon reading the story again I think that the officers failed to search or poorly searched the kid and the kid was trying to either hide the gun in the seat(most likely) or bring it to bear on the cops and had an accidental discharge shooting himself in the process. It seems clear that he was not trying to off himself as at point blank range into the head that works most of the time and at the least causes very serious injury.

It says that they let the parents ride with suspect to the hospital so he must have been hit in legs or arms.

Gun shot wounds to the head do not always result in instant death (or death at all)

I remember years ago there was a case in the US where some guy got all the way
to the station with a gun. There's security cam footage of him shooting himself
with said gun.

EDIT: Found article about it on Snopes. IT DOES CONTAIN SOME GRAPHIC IMAGES SO BE WARNED.

Right.
Got a friend that shot himself in the head with a .357 a few years ago.
Put it under his chin and pulled the trigger.

The results weren't pretty but he's still alive and even called 911 himself!
