Using RealNav












A few days pass with nothing much happening - had to avoid a HK group during the night.


A few more days pass, then - Aircraft Spotted!


ALARM - DIVE!
Crew rush down hatch - boat lurches forward as we power flank ahead


Rounds are slamming into the hull as we will the boat deeper.


The Aeroplane engines screams as it passes over head.
We just wait for the bomb to hit.


Nothing - no bomb - no fire - no death

BOOM!

Bomb misses by a good distance - very lucky
Damage is light.


Repair crews get to work and repairs made

We receive a message - must remember to check targets


I have removed RealNav so we can see what is happening on the map.
Heading to Patrol Area


We get a new message and adjust heading


Notice that when we view the messages using the UI - we are U021
With the stock message - we are U132

I have made the water clear so we can see what is going on

I am still to far away to join. Slowly making repairs.

Does the sub AI appear to be smarter now with IRAI v37? Did you notice that they evade better and thus do not get killed off as fast or even at all by the escorts?

Use silentotto for black pit and then request mission from KMO

A note on messages - as the messages are built into the campaign, I could not use TDWs message mod. So I had to use the stock one - this means that you will only get some of the messages using TDWs UI (as set in your options.py), but the ones that are missed will show in your log as normal.
When a message is send to you - it is marked critical and will repeat until you get it - it will play a sound and drop TC to 32 (as default in options.py). So when you are getting close to the patrol area - watch for you tc to drop or the sound to play

Air AI
I thought the planes are now a lot better. I do tend to race about at high tc, giving my watch crew very little time to inform me about incomming planes (300m in both occasions above - perhaps weather too). Anyway - their guns are like sharp shooters - all shots straight at bridge and the crew.
Their bomb drops are not so accurate thankfully, but but still close enough.

Escorts AI
These were very good as we know. When they are out numbered for a change, it does make things easier to get away from them. Normally they would stick to you and wear you down until they get their kill.
Here - they were switching to other targets so I could escape and join the attack.

U-Boat AI
A huge improvment here No boat surfaced and all ran at scope depth until shell were fired at them. They would then go deeper to about 40m and I also noticed that if they are on their attack run and are forced deeper to the 40m - they still fired their torps, nice

So after the attack run, they would turn and head away. I guess that when reloaded they came back for the next attack run.

I am not sure how many were killed - 2 at most I would say. Also I am not sure what happened to then when they ran out of torps do they know to resume waypoints when no ammo

there were no attempts made to surface and fire cannons - I am not sure if this is irai or ohii here as I had set them to stay at depth for set waypoints.

They will resume waypoints when they are out of torps

They are not allowed to surface until they are far away from any contact (>= 7500m IIRC). At that time they may attempt to fire cannons as long as the contact is not a warship.

@TDW

Is there anyway your radio message mod could grab any stock message that is set for "critical" and always show it

At the mo, it will apply the % chance to all messages other than set campaign messages.
In this type of campaign mission - I can't use your radio mod for the messages as they are only loaded with the request mission button from the kmo and thus are random dates etc
