Default SH3 veteran just bought SH5

Well, the graphics look good, but I'm missing my old SH3 UI!

I'm running bone stock right now, downloaded from Steam. I got the "gold" edition.

You know what? That's actually good advice. Nothing will make you appreciate the efforts of the Mod Crew more than letting yourself experience what the sim would have been without them.

And then let the modded version utterly, bloody blow your mind.

As to advice on where to start on the modding process, maillemaker, no better thread than this one.

Any questions along the way, pipe up. But you know that already, since you already went through the same battle with SH3.

Welcome aboard!

I have to concur on this one: I tried stock and it was horrendeous. Then I tried the stable modsoup from the thread indicated, and changed my HUD to classic SH3... Wow!

Is it too late to say thank you modders, in particular DarkWraith?

Thanks, guys.

I started with stock from the get-go for just that reason.

I played SH3 for a long time before I found this forum and discovered mods, so I was blown away when I installed mods like GWX.

I'm going to check out the mod you suggested. Can't wait to have an SH3 interface - I could not even find the darn TDC in stock SH5!

I went wandering around the sub looking for it - poked at the one shown in the conning tower with no effect, didn't find one down in the control room - I still haven't found the TDC.

Yeah I was right there with you, I wanted to go back to SHIII - GWX. I'm learning to like SH5 now with my 60 mods, lol.
