New UI/ Journal Problem

I'm having a frustrating problem. I can't get the right journal to work in the campaign. I keep trying to create a new journal with a name for the skipper and a different Hull number and the file loads and reverts to TDW and U-21

If I try and change this in the file editor it locks up between "File Created Successfully" popup and one other popup. It just goes between the two popups and I have to use cntrl,alt, delete to get out of the editor.
What am I doing wrong??? I even went back to the beginning of the campaign to see if that would get me a new journal with the correct Captains name and hull number.
Where did I screw up? This should be easy...
