New UI/ Journal Problem
 
I'm having a frustrating problem. I can't get the right journal to work in the campaign. I keep trying to create a new journal with a name for the skipper and a different Hull number and the file loads and reverts to TDW and U-21 :hmmm:

If I try and change this in the file editor it locks up between "File Created Successfully" popup and one other popup. It just goes between the two popups and I have to use cntrl,alt, delete to get out of the editor.
What am I doing wrong??? I even went back to the beginning of the campaign to see if that would get me a new journal with the correct Captains name and hull number.
Where did I screw up? This should be easy...

Are you trying to change them with the mod enabled and the changes being applied to the enabled mod or are you making the changes to the mod in the MODS folder?

Which file editor? Can you show me screenshots of the errors? The more information you can give me the better I can try and help you :up:

Hi TDW! Hey I'm sorry to bug you again, thanks for the answer back.
I know this is pilot error but I've tried everything I can think of to change the journal to match my name and boat hull #. I create a file while I'm in the game first but that always comes back to Captain's name 'The Dark Wraith' ship number U021.
OK, I tried that, so then I exit the game, Pull out the mods from JSGME and load up the Options File Editor Viewer. Here come the pics.

I finally have to use control/alt/delete to escape, this is a crash, the screens go back and forth but do not allow you to exit.
Anyhow, obviously this pilot is crashing the plane. I also tried to create the new journel in mods/
"NewUI's"/Data/Applications/ShipsJournalViewerEditor and that doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong? Like I said, I even went back and started the patrol over, so it must be something stupid I'm overlooking.
I can create new journal files, but they all revert back to U021 and The Dark Wraith no matter what I put in. I'm always disabling the mod.
Thanks in advance, The Mods still Rock, I just need the journal to match the boat number and my name.

You're doing nothing wrong and the app is doing what it is supposed to do :yep: Just keep pressing enter, it will eventually stop. You must have a TON of saved games on your computer. I say this because the app is going to EVERY save game (and all the files it needs to modify for that save game) and updating captain's name in it/them. There's like 7-8 files for every save game it has to update.

It will do the exact same thing for the u-boat hull number :yep:

WOW, I do save some but I thought I got rid of some of the erroneous save games that I'll never use again...

Deleting Old Games
 
Still having problems with editing stuff using the app . I un-do the mods and than edit using the app . Does having any old files affect the over-writting the new changes ? Do I have to clean old saved games in order to gte the changes to be effective ? I went back into My documents\Sh5 and deleted all the old saved games . I also went into the game and deleted all the saved games from other campaigaigns . I am still having the default TDW in the ships Journel and I also wanted to change the map colors which I did, But still the map colors are defaulted to the game lines and tools

When I do this Iam removing the mods from being activated and than making the changes using the ediitor , And still the game is using the default TDW and map colors . What else Iam I not doing ? :damn:

I don't know if we're talking about the same problem, but, when you input the new name and hull number, you do indeed have to input all of the "repeating" pop-ups even though it seems as if your stuck doing the same thing over again.
If your still having this issue, I will walk you through to make sure that your not missing a step.

Thanks Dog .. yes it is the same problem ! And yes I have been going through the repating pop-ups but there are very few and Iam thinking that after all of the pop-ups are completed . Ill see in y game my personal uboat hull number and name .. alos I wanted to change the color of my lines when iam using the map tools ,

What I have Done as follows

So, were you able to change the Name and number? I wasn't clear on that. It sounds as if your still stuck with TDW's name.
Also, have you used the JSGME mod validator to make sure that the mod is installing proper? This is also located in the New UI's/Data /applications folder.
This will give some idea if there are any conflicts. Or try loading New UI's alone till you get the problem solved.
I also ran into trouble once by having JSGME and my mods folder in the wrong place. I had it in the SH main folder/Data/ JSGME which was wrong, but that was SH4 a while back. Most of the mods won't work in the SH5/Data file.
Anyway, Also, you are loading the mods after the tutorial patrol. I know most of this sounds dumb but I'm trying to list the easy reasons as well.
Try the mod validator and post again. (If you've not already tried it)

The default name still exist after I have gone threw the steps .. However I have not used the JGSME VALIDATOR , and No I am passed the tutorial mission and On my first patrol with a new boat .. I lost mt last bost while comming bacck to brest after a long voyage from the Eastern US COast .. Ill try the validator and - repost the results here ,, Thanks

The validator said that I have 10 errors in classes and 14 errors in the def side, also saved campaiggn errors are included . I copied and pasted these entrys from The Mod validator , will I have to fix these errors and how Will I do that ? still TDW name is in my journal ,, Thanks

Ahoy kimuraijn,
I've been looking this over and it doesn't look that serious. I am a bit concerned about the IRAI "Data doesn't exist" message, but anyway. If I were you I would start by taking everything out except the base UI mod. Then set up your Name. You are using the OptionsFileEditorViewer, if you aren't that will be the cause of your problem, lol.
If the ship # and the Captains name still do not change then I would e-mail TDW with as much info about your game version (1.2, I hope) and system and like me he'll try and help you. If the Ship's number doesn't change if your using the OptionsFileEditorViewer, and you have all the other mods pulled temporarily then TDW might have to step in.

PS; Can you post screen shots of the FileEditor as you try and change the name and ship number?

All but the antilag is because the mod has not been made ready to install.

Always check the the data folder is the next folder down.
With the ones above - they will all be within a MODS folder still.
