Well if you have more than 2Gigs of RAM you need the memory patch.
If you have 2Gigs or less, you probably won't be able to run it. The Merchant Fleet mod is real heavy on memory usage. You could import the ships manually one by one to see how many your computer can handle.

Tell tale sign of a CTD being memory related is when it cites kernel.dll as the cause of the crash. Trust me, I had my own nightmare run in with this with the interiors mod and later, the MFM. You may want to try the MFM interim which omits the neutral vessels, thus lowering the memory needs somewhat, but as far as previous discussions go, even this may cause issues without the 4GB patch and in the case of 32 bit systems, the 3GB switch may be required also.
Your best bet, and I know this may be slightly (more likely majorly) daunting, is to read the whole MFM thread from the start. I only say this as I know for a fact that the exact issue you describe has come up multiple times in that thread, including my own experiences and how I managed to get MFM working with my 32 bit XP install. FMInteriors thread also has the same discussions contained within which may be of help. It's a pain but at least the answers are there, somewhere. Thankfully, I'm on W7 Ultimate x64 now, which seems to embrace everything I throw at it. Good luck.

Hello! After some time and trough extensive reading of the posts by other forum members I am pretty sure that I solved the CTD problem using MFM Beta mod. The breaktrough came when Bakkels suggested manually pasting different merchants into special folder that one can enable in the game via JGSME, and then chekc how many ships PC can handle. After extensive trial and error period I found the main reason for CTDs in my case. It was American ship skins. Now I only copy/paste British ships (I.e T01B, M01B) into "MFM-short" mod folder, and then simply copy the ship skin files in the original MFM Beta Roster folder into Roster (both american and British) folder in "MFM short". It works for American side too, with no problems. Do not forget to copy the ships names in important txt file. OK, so I do not have American skins, but I am after different ship types, that enhance GWX 3.0 even more. Slight drawback is the longer loading time, but be patient. Please, I do not take any credit for any of the mods above mentioned, I am just posting this to those who had problems using MFM Beta mod, and may find this experience useful.Thank you Bakkels for the initial idea. Good hunting! |
