Default freezing bug?

Today i tried to sink a tanker but everytime i hit with a torpedo or attack it via deck gun, the game freezes {total freeze}. If i dont attack the ship, everything goes well. Anybody else experienced this?

read here - seems Agima and Church subsim had the same problem like yours:

I've been able to sink a ship with either (no other mods)

- NewUIs_TDC_6_4_0_ByTheDarkWraith

Like I suspected, since Church said that he had the same problem with only the NewUIs, I figured out that this mod must be the one that was causing us thoses freeze when a torpedoe impact a ship, since the NewUIs are within Magnum Opus too.

So with trials and errors, I've removed some files from the NewUIs mod, one at the time, and finally nailed the one that cause the crash! The file is named "Page captain log.py".

If you want to test this out, to see if my temporary "solution" is not just specific to my computer, follow those instructions :

- Deactivate all mods in JSGME
- From within JSGME, right click on Magnum Opus and/or NewUIs_TDC_6_4_0_ByTheDarkWraith and delete them
- Unpack a brand new Magnum Opus, patch it to v0.0.2
- Unpack a brand new NewUIs_TDC_6_4_0_ByTheDarkWraith
- In BOTH of those mods folders (if you plan to install both), find the files "Page captain log.py" that are located in Data/Scripts/Menu and delete them
- Install and activate Magnum Opus. Do the same with NewUIs_TDC_6_4_0_ByTheDarkWraith
- Start SH5, start a new campaign, skip the tutorial
- When in port, save the game, then quit it.
- Start SH5, load the savegame, select your mission
- Then find a ship and sink it, hopefully without a game freeze!

Now, I know this is a temporary workaround, because "Page captain log.py" must be important and do something.

But at least I've pinned point the potential source of the problem. Then again, this file, or something in our own computer, must interfere with it, and that, is out of my knowledge and I just don't know what to do from here.

Maybe TheDarkWraith have an hypothesis ob this, since he created the mod!

wow! i will try it out tommorrow. Now im testing if the game hangs up in other situations but till now, no problems.

TDW told about enabling the logging, so maybe you can see what went wrong before the lockup. See also the iniys settings in his mod.

How can i skip the dreadful tutorial once i begin the campaign? THx ahead

After you install first time the game you must to play the tutorial once.... after that each time when you start a new campain you have the posibility to skip the tutorial:

3) How to start a new campaign using ''silentotto'' ==> Link

I tried the steps you mentioned, but now i cant even load my old saved games. After i deleted the pilot py files and made all the changes, The game drops after i try to load some savegame. I have activated all the mods as before, but it seems like they re not really actived or i dont know . desperate :/

i think you can not use anymore the old saved games... you need to restart a new mission

Deleting the Page captain log.py file will cause problems guaranteed. I told the person who said this to find the real problem but alas they haven't. I gave them some info to use to figure out what the real problem is and they haven't reported back any findings. I can't try to understand a problem without information/feedback.

Nevermind the savegame, at least i will try to run it normaly now as it should be.

Yes but maybe you will have problems in the future also... that is what tdw said i think... he need to know what kind of error messsage you have to solve the problem

I will have to look at how the logging works or where to find the log, when i encouter it in the future i will look at it and hopefuly there will be something which can help

Dark, i just now started having this issue...First time ive tried to sink a ship sence i switched from your 6.3 ui to 6.4. Had never had this issue before....

This is what i was doing when it happened and it keeps happining, ive been able to recreate it over and over lol using my last save...

NS31 boat i bilieve its called...Fast 90 attack at about 1000M. Torp is at 3.1 depth, set speed to fast. i fire at 12 degrees which is 0 Gyro angle. Torp runs just fine and then when it impacts at 0 degree bearing, bam lock up...almost have to hard boot sometime to get out, others i can just alt tab and end program.

Let me know what else i can do to help you with this, i really dont want to uninstall 6.4 lol....my mod soup is

so i have narrowed this down a bit more...I took out 6.4 TDW and went back to 6.3 which ive used for some time with no problems and yet i froze again soon as my torp hit...

So the only other mod that i have installed that is new sence all this happened is the FX_16 mod....So ive gone back to FX_15 and im about to go in and try again and see if it freezes....

Ill report back with what happens

*EDIT*
nope seems its not FX_16 either as i replaced it back with 15 and still i froze the minute the torp hit....Im not sure what else ive put in new sence then...I believe all the mods i have ive always had...guess ill start from fresh and try it with just TDW UI and see if it happens then

Ok so i have found the problem....I tried it on the tutorial torp mission and didnt seem to have a problem with all the new mods installed so i was like well what the hell then....So i went back and tried it in game again on my campaign and found that the differance is i was trying to torp a German boat LOL...guess you cant torp your own people with out it freezing....So someone where in TDW 6.4 and 6.3 if you torp your own nation or a blue nation it will freeze on you. Hope that helps DW in locating the problem. Though i shouldnt be torping my own, if i was doing a hydro only i wouldnt know.
