So it wasn't the often ridiculed Russian nuclear program which caused this. It was wild fires which were evidently ignored close to a nuclear research facility.

If it were Tony Hayward, his children's children would be in a gulag.

Had something like that happened on Stalin's summer holiday, nobody would have ever seen the officers again.

Aside from the naval base, 48 people have perished. Not good.

That appears to be the case. Apparently they've had quite a heat wave this year. Must have turned their forests into tinder boxes.

Well it didn't burn down but they moved all the nasty stuff just in case.

Somewhere else a base did catch fire.

My inlaws have come over to us a for a couple of weeks to enjoy the normal Scottish weather. In fact it isn't too bad. About 18 degrees, and rain in the evening.
