Russian Naval Reactor Facility Burns Down
|
So it wasn't the often ridiculed Russian nuclear program which caused this. It was wild fires which were evidently ignored close to a nuclear research facility.
If it were Tony Hayward, his children's children would be in a gulag. |
Had something like that happened on Stalin's summer holiday, nobody would have ever seen the officers again. :dead:
Aside from the naval base, 48 people have perished. Not good. |
Damn, these wildfires are really out of control. I guess it's just something that Russia is not used to having to combat.
|
That appears to be the case. Apparently they've had quite a heat wave this year. Must have turned their forests into tinder boxes.

Well at least they don't have to contend with a radioactive release as well, or at least for the moment.

Well it didn't burn down but they moved all the nasty stuff just in case.
Somewhere else a base did catch fire. My inlaws have come over to us a for a couple of weeks to enjoy the normal Scottish weather. In fact it isn't too bad. About 18 degrees, and rain in the evening. |
