Default Japanese Flag Issue

I did a little searching but with no luck.

I recently installed RFB2.0 with RSRD and noticed that the flags are backward on Japanese ships.
Warships have the red meatball on a white background and the merchants have the "rising sun" flag.
I don't recall the issue with RFB1.52/RSRD.

I haven't tried disabling one or the other mod yet to see if it is a RFB or RSRD issue. Maybe tonight.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Not an RFB issue.

RFB Team,

I just downloaded and reinstalled RFB from scratch and in the vanilla 2.0 install package the two Japanese flags (dated 07/01/2008) are indeed reversed.

The new flags (dated 2/6/2010) included in the April 23rd patch are correct.

Sharkbit,

Make sure you are running the latest patch for RFB and that it's correctly installed. That should take care of the problem and you'll also see the new flags are much better looking too. You can download it here: http://www.filefront.com/16224499/RF...3April2010.7z/

If for some reason you don't want to install the patch (although you really should) you can correct the problem by renaming the two files yourself.

Just go to your SH4\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex folder and rename Japan.dds to Japan_m.dds and vice-versa.

Thanks etheberg!

It does appear to be a RFB problem.
I disabled all mods last night, activated only RFB2.0 and the Apr 23 patch and had the same problem. I will try renaming the files you mentioned.

Did you happen to solve this issue? I triple-checked my install here, and all is well.

I haven't solved it yet. I've been out of town and busy with RL issues. I'll try to play around with it some this week and let you know.

I messed around with it a little today:
I disabled all mods and the flags were correct-warships have the "rising sun" and the merchants have the red meatball on a white background.

I enabled only RFB2.0 and the flags were still correct.
I enabled the 23 Apr 2010 patch and that is when the problem appears. The flags are reversed.

Just for grins, I made a mini-mod by taking the flags from RFB 2.0 in SH4\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex folder and enabled it but it did not change anything.

That's about as far as I went. It appears that another file in the patch is affecting it somehow.

Any ideas?

I'll re-check the files next time I'm on my desktop computer. I'm just on my little netbook at the moment.
