Default Messed up submarine skin when swapping conning towers.

I just want to know why the submarine skin is always messed up when I swap the coning towers... The conning tower skin is right but the submarine one is all messed up.

The result of the swap:



It's like the skin of my XVIII is mixed with the O01 of the IX9D2
What I don't understand is why is the tower skin is okay and not the sub because both skins lightmaps and T01 are separate files.

What do I do now? Any help is welcome. Thanks for fast replies.

EDIT: I think that by putting the tower of the XVIII on the IXD2, the XVIII automatically imported the texture of it's sub. I also think that we are seeing the O01 of the IXD2 but it could be the XVIII one, I'm not sure... I think that the XVIII tower and the XVIII textures are connected, maybe there's a way to diconnect them somehow.

When you edited the IXD2 unit parts .upc file did you only replace this line with the tower you wanted?

ExternalLinkName3D= data/objects/Turm_9d2_1

Cause if you mess with anything below the line the texture changes.

Where are my Flak guns? How do I put the originals back on?

euh.

now that you got your IXD2 tower to look like a type XVIII tower ()
you have to edit your IXD2 flak guns to be XVIII flak guns. I do believe that would require editing the UnitParts1IXD2.upc file in Data/UPCDataGE/UPCUnitsData
it's an educated guess and I'm a little busy with other things to instruct you further. I hope it ends up working for ya!

Thanks slege, but I have no results so far. At least, I made the new skin (Hi-Res). To anybody willing to help, please do so, it will be very appreciated as I now intend to make it a download.

I think it's something else. I edited the UPCUnitsData but it still doesn't work.

It is the right file. Scroll down to the bottom and you will find a section dedicated to upgrades. Find both Upack20mmSingle and replace both with Upack20mmTwinXVIII. If it doesn`t work then I`m clueless.

As far as I know the AA guns are controlled by the upgrade pack slot in the unitpartsupc. You could also check the equipment file in the submarine folder. It's .eqp, then look for A01 and A02, those are the flak gun blocks.

They deal with which model the sub uses for the guns so you're going to have to open the flak gun .dat file and find the model name.

Here's an example of what the blocks are in the equipment file. The link name is for the model name in the .dat file.
