Default I am also back

After a big disappointment with Silent Hunter 5 I returned the DVD to bol.com for a refund and yep I still have Silent Hunter 3 on my pc.

Running a campaign with my Type VIIB and wait until the campaign for the Type IX comes available again and harass the US coast again.

You've gotta love it.

But still the game is old but good. But strangely it was more complete than the new SH5.
And above all it now works.

Is SH5 That bad of a flop? I heard you need a constant net connection just to play it, also I heard there aren't as many upgrades/subs, and the sound files are the same as SH3. But damn those graphics look good, and being able to stroll the torpedo rooms sounds pretty cool.

Well graphically it looks more than okay.

But the fact that I am now stalking a very small convoy in the channel of dover in my current SH III campaign while I am tasked to hunt way further already illustrates the fact what SH5 is missing.

Simply because you must ignore the convoy because maybe you have been tasked to hunt a battleship.

You are not free to hunt bigger targets of oppertunity in SH5. :-(
What if you happen to find a big battleship but you must hunt down merchants.
You feel pretty sick afterwards I think. At least I do.

SH5 is way too scripted to me. Almost like Call of Duty for u-boats.
But for Call of Duty it is acceptable. Because I am buying it for a story.
And within Call of Duty I am not ordered to save my bullets and shoot down only Vladimir Makarov but ignore the other soldiers attacking me. E.g.
And SH5 is telling me.

There seems to be a growing trend of SHV players coming back to SH3.

Welcome back Mr. Anderson..........We missed you........

Thanks for the review. I guess ill stick to SH3. Probably also need a monster of a computer just to run SH5 eh?

Well I got an AMD Phenom II X4 965, 8Gigs Ram, 2 x 60 GB SSD OZC Vertex RAID 0 and 2 x Sapphire 4850X2 2040Mb (4 x Radeon HD 4850) so in total I probably got one of the fastest setups available.

Intel or AMD this baby is blazingly fast. And it will beat most of the setups available.

But still it is not running perfect because Silent Hunter 5 has some problems running on multicores and probably crossfire. (* While SH3 runs perfect. :-S *)

Other games however run perfectly smooth. Bad Company 2 @ highest 1920 x 1200 just PERFECT 70+ FPS.

Anyway never mind. I give up on SH5.

Just stick to SH3 and that runs more than fine.
