Default I feel so letdown......

I have been a fan of the Silent Hunter series since 1996, I purchased SH5 yesterday, and I honestly felt like I could jump into this new one no problem....Forget about the DRM, this game sucks!....why should I have to install all these mods just to have a game that should be playable right out of the box.

...and to everyone out there who has already purchased this game...are you really happy?.... or are we just supposed to be like starving dogs to sub sim scraps they throw out to us.

I have a feeling this is a Death sentence for the series !

Yes, i am very happy. SH 5 has alot of new features, many of them are long time requests by the community like friendly + enemy sub´s.

Why dont you like it? i think its just perfect. 1-2 patches more + some mods and SH 5 will be even better than SH 3 + GWX

I was unhappy about a couple of days after I first got it. But now my enthusiasm is recovering, and I can honestly say that I'm really beginning to enjoy this. Not without about a dozen mods applied and not without turning a blind eye to a few rather blatant omissions, but enjoying nonetheless. There is a lot in this one that is worth sticking around for, to be honest.

Man, I think you're either out of your mind, or Ubisoft employee. Or both.

Nothing personal, though.

I share your feeling looks someone went through a game with a butchers knife cutting out all the good bits.

hu? why?

whats so bad about SH 5? there are no gamebreaking bugs, beside the load/save moral one. The game is in a much better state than the SH 3 release and much more fun. Its allot more immersive than all other SH games combined. SH 5 plays like SH3/SH4, just the controls are different and it has way more features. For me its a BIG upgrade from SH 3/SH4

Please, look around. According to many posts here and on official Ubi forums, the game in its current state is simply broken and unplayable.

As i said, NO gamebreaking bugs except one. I played now for 19 hours, 11. patrol and already uninstalled SH 3 + GWX. no reason for me to play it again, ever.

To be honest...90% of all the "bug reports" here are from people that just dont know how stuff works in SH 5. Like airplanes that dont attack, thats because you meet only scout planes the first year which arent armed! Many people also say you cant use deck gun or AA guns, which work just fine. Or the best example is that alot are saying that you cant change your deepth or heading like in SH 4 which is all wrong. Oh and BTW the AI is actually very good. you only meet "green" ships which have zero experience in the first months/first year. I have currently a hard time attacking any escorted convoy in the second year

I dont have SH5 yet (not released in NZ until 12 March ), But i will be ASAP. so i'm only going from what others have said. But :-

I always played SH3 on 100 % dificulty... im a hardcore realist player.....

I dont like the sound of the RPG elements.
I dont like all the bugs....especialy the ones that are still in from SH3 & 4.
I dont like the sound of the easy AI.... sounds too Arcadish.
I dont like the planes that just ignore you..... and planes shouldnt be flying at night.
The bad AI that makes ships ram into walls and land continusly, until they blow up.
Plus lots of other small problems like ships exploding like they carring fireworks etc.

BUT...

I do love the graphics, the First Person views and the modding tools.

So hopefully Devs release a few patches to kill the bugs.
Then modders can turn this game into an improved SH3 GWX, with these awesome graphics. or better

So yes this game will rock,
but just not yet.

These RPG Elements are actualy very nice, like you can have +2 knots for some minutes. I think its much better than the medal system used in SH 4

Yes, these bugs arent nice but can be easily ignored.

I dont like the sound of the easy AI.... sounds too Arcadish.

The AI gets alot more difficult after the first months/first year

They dont ignore you, they will report your position. The reason they dont attack its because they arent armed . Look in the museum, its the unarmed Hurricane scout type which you meet mainly in the first months
I answered some of your points

Its allright. I am just a bit angry that so many people are saying nonsense about SH 5. 90% of all bad stuff isnt even in the game, like the points mentioned above. Yes the game has its flaws and yes its buggy but its hellish fun too

All features from Uboat missions SH 4 are also included in SH 5, you can order planes/bombers to scout/attack other ships. And i love(!) attacking enemy fleets which are fighting german ships. Could just watch the gunfight all day with my periskope

Also, there are named ships in the game, like the hood, if you sink any of them than the wohle campaign changes.

I think SH5's main problem is exactlty the same as PT-Boats main problem.... during the first mission, a learning mission some controls are locked out preventing you acceesing them so that you can focus on key tasks. Unfortunately both Akella and Ubisoft failed to make that clear to players. Hence a there is lot of confusion about bugs.

yes, that is exactly the problem. Cant believe that most people that are complaining are just blind lemmings that repeat the bad stuff even when it not true. Best example is the official german forum. Its just crazy there, everyone is complaining and b*tching around about stuff that isnt even true

And if it's that bad for the hardcore subsimmers who have a rough idea of what to do, imagine what it's like for a newbie, that coupled with the terribly short and uniformative manual (and the Americans/Canadians only get a PDF one, who reads those?) may be enough on it's own to sink the game, which would be very sad indeed.
