Default British Sub - and their crew!

Shooting with my deck gun crew at a British sub ... watch the bridge crew and the gunner!

They are sinking!

Probably a bug, I never have seen a British sub!

They can normally be found gently bobbing up and down on the outer fringes of a convoy which you've just decimated, seemingly without a care in the world.

This sub was on his own, (Noth Sea) heading towards Norway. Probably to help their friends at NARVIK.

But the bug is:

1) The gun man is still on deck (my crew destroyed their deck gun).
2) The watch crew stayed on the bridge. Watching their sub sinking!

LOL

There's no bug there old boy,

Stiff upper lip and all that.

They'll be singing 'Always look on the brightside of life' like the crew of HMS Coventry

These poor subs can't even submerge on their own. By sinking them, you're doing them a favor.

I saw something similar last patrol. Had a brief gun duel with an S-class boat, started taking a few hits and didn't want to lose any crew. I went to PD and fed his stern one of my TII's, figuring a torp to the rear would be a quick end to any reasonable submarine.

Not so! I watched that thing bob around on about 4x TC for quite a few minutes, with nothing but the top of its masts sticking out above the waterline. And, yes, the crew on deck stuck it out the whole time. I swear I could hear them on the hydrophone, whistling like on Bridge on the River Kwai.

I got concerned watching it for so long, and, feeling bad for the soaking wet crew on deck (I assume they had full SCUBA gear or just great lungs) and afraid that somehow they'd fix the leaks and soldier on as if nothing happened, not fully sinking. I set a TI to fast and put it down their bow tubes sideways. That did the job, finally.

They're still whistling as if nothing is wrong, though.

Zilch,
Welcome to this nest of ruffians and nonchalant Pommy sailors.

They always stay in the stations until the ship sinks, supreme courage and far beyond the call of duty

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

In memory of all those I have known in my life who have been lost at sea, merchant men and fishermen alike, both fellow engineer's and navigators.
