GWX3.0GOLD - Is it normal to hear hull creaks when on the surface?

After just entering my first patrol grid in GWX3 I decided to patrol for a while submerged. After deciding to surface later I noticed one or two creaks and groans, just like the ones heard when submerged. The creaks arent heavy or extreme, more like the ones you hear at periscope depth. The sound is heard for about 2 secs then disappears, then may be heard again about 10mins or so later.
Is this a possible sound loop bug?,or is it perfectly normal to hear the odd creak when on the surface?,from the rocking motion for example.

Thanks.

I can't remember hearing creaks like that on the surface. But if the waves are very bad it could be that the uboat is temporarily getting into that depth where it start to play that sound. Just like sometimes the hydrophone operator hears something when he shouldn't be. That's all I can think of, or indeed that annoying sound loop bug.

This might be related to TC If one time-compresses while surfacing the boat. The sound of the creak might loop.

Simply TC+ again till the loop plays out! And then drop to TCx1

The weather was as clear and calm as you could get.I think it may have just been the odd creak,it wouldnt surprise me being at sea,all manner of noises could be heard I reckon. The sound didnt loop,it was for about 2 secs and then disappeared, starting up again say 10mins later or so,similar to the noise of the cough you hear now and then inside the UBoat.
Regarding TC I never TC important things, maneuvers, dives, surfaces, stalking, evasion and so on,its all done in real time, the only time I TC is when enroute to a destination, and that is never higher than 128,and never higher than 32 when in suspected air coverage zones.

Cheers.

Were you on the bridge or in one of the compartments?

GWX has an ambient sound that is different on the bridge where you hear wind and waves and down below where you hear the noises made by the crew going about their business, water bubbling along the hull or the creak or scape as a hatch is opened or closed.

This is about 14-15min long looped track that is played when you are in one of the compartments.

Tarjak,

I was in the control room at the time I head the hull creak.I know there are a few nice new noises with GWX3 when below deck,it was just this noise, that reminded me of the creaks you hear when at depth. As I said it wasnt a heavy creak.I believe now it may be part of the new interior sound effects, and probably just reflects the motion of the waves affecting bearings and rivets and stuff, maybe even a hatch door as you said.

All in all not a problem, great immersive sounds nonetheless

In real life ships do creak on the surface. I would imagine a sub would, too.---

Whether in game it should or should not creak --it's a good question.
