Default NFL Draft 2009

GROAN!

Raiders pick oddly, nothing unusual.
Passed up Michael Crabtree for Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland ...any wonder, he's the fastest receiver in the draft TM.

And then, they trade their second pick to NE and move back to 47th and pick...some guy no one has evern heard of! He's not even listed in the NFL draft tracker.

Guys, keep your phone free, you may get a call from Al Davis in the third round...

I hate to say it, but I think Al needs psychiatric help. That second round pick was definitely a WTF moment

Edit : Not real sure about the guy the Falcons got in the second either. Sounds like an injury problemm. Can't complain about the trade for Gonzo or picking Peria Jerry in the first round, though.

Well I was suprised they passed on Crabtree. I got nothing on the second rounder.

Whats worse though - is my Panthers once again traded away their first rounder for next year (thats 2 years in a row) to reach for a DE that really didn't impress me. And to do what - move up like 10 or so spots in the second round??? Sure we got a fourth out of it as well this year - but a fourth and mid second don't equal a first - especially when we have a need that the draft class next year is strong in. *That being QB*

Plus we failed to unload Peppers, meaning that situation is hanging over us, and its going to get ugly fast, mark my words.

Since our owner has had heart issues (thank you Lord for providing the man a heart), the Front Office seems to be run at the whim of our head coach - and his focus is one year at a time - because he is fighting for his job every year. If he wasn't so loyal to certain players, the team as a whole would be alot better off. Our GM usually is smarter than this - but we just mortgaged the future of the franchise so our head coach could try to prop up a crappy quarterback and save everyone's job for one more year. Unreal.....

At least you Raider fans can blame ownership........

See the Packers spent there first two picks beefing up their defense,
pretty good move as that part of their game needed some work.

Speaking of defense, is it just me, or was defense the hot item this draft?

Yeah it seems that way. Pretty hard to win the big one without a solid "D".

This draft class was very strong defensively and not so hot on the offensive side. Couldn't have worked out better for the Falcons 'cause they needed a whole defense and they just about drafted one.

Little late with this, but a nice piece recapping the recent draft:

Here

Packers got a B+, Raiders F, but you already knew that Neal ^^^.

Nice find there reallydedpoet

The Pats get a B+
The two players that stand out are Patrick Chung and Darius Butler. But i like the look of the WR Brandon Tate after watching some footage of him. If he can get healthy and get a good pre season under his belt. I think he could add something to the offense. As they said on the Pats own TV show. He is a little like Donte Stallworth but with better hands.

Thanks MC

It should be a good year for the Pats with Brady coming back plus it looks like
they have really added to their defensive core with those picks you mentioned.

They are a quality organization.
