Default Ex-Tesla VP Says Congress Should Tax Gas to $6 per Gallon

Is this guy nuts?

http://www.dailytech.com/ExTesla+VP+...ticle13791.htm

Sounds like the Al Gore method of pushing your product. Tax it out of existence till you are the only one left.

Yep! The fool has no idea how bad that would be for poor folks making 20K a year or so.

My answer mc bee, probably along time, takes along time just to recharge a rc car battery. And what to do with the bad battery's and battery acid.:hmm: and how to make them, isn't that just about as bad for the environment.

This proposal is actually not to far off from what Obama's cabinet wants to do.

To paraphrase "Increase fuel prices with tariffs untill they rival that of the EU".

Funny how an increase in oil prices affects the US a hell of a lot more than some other countries.

Its one of the main sources of revenue... taxes make up a large percentage of the 'cost' of a galon of gas. As the base price goes down so does the revenue stream.

So if the base price goes down, increase the tariffs to get that revenue stream flowing again.

Not 100% sure on this, but I think folks here have to commute much farther distances to get to work, which affects them substantially when gas prices double. Also we do not decent mass transit.

Not to mention the distances that goods have to be transported by either truck or train.

That's why in the UK if the govt. wanted to we can mitigate oil price rises affecting petrol, but of course what govt. ever likes to lower taxes?
