Default Disappearing task forces

This keeps happening...

I spot a task force, realise I can actually intercept it. I get to the interception point and the task force disappears in the middle of nowhere! I am using a spy sat mod. What I find inexplicable is a few times now I've predicted where the next spysat update is going to be (and I get it right), then I predict the next one and just before I should make contact the contact update happens again, showing where the task force is. I should be literally 10 minutes away from making hydrophone or radar contact steaming as fast as I can go to make sure I get some kind of intercept, but then there's nothing. After that, there are no more map updates! Nothing!

What's going wrong?

some task forces and convoys are set to "delete" themselves upon reaching the last waypoint in their waypoint set. this prevents the ocean from being filled with ships just sitting there doing nothing.

I would expect that this is the cause of your problem

This is how stock sh3 was made. Task forces spawns in the middle of the ocean and vanishes the same way. GWX made them travel from harbour to harbor so you'll never see dissapearing task forces again.

I've got GWX installed, and it's in the middle of a pathway...

I guess they simply changed course and/or speed and you missed them.

Something similar happened to me recently, AN73 sector. I reached intercepting point, but the task force was not there. I searched for a while, until I found a large convoy. I forgot about the task force and went after that convoy...

GWX task forces and convoys keep changing course. Very often it takes some serious hunting to find them. Task Forces usually travel fast and are difficult to intercept unless they are coming right at you.

task force most of the time cruise faster than 15 knots........ unless you play unrealistic, you can catch them if lucky.

Task forces aren't meant to be easy to hunt down... I also find myself racing across half the bloody ocean to find nothing but empty sea at the intercept point. It's all about luck. It's actually easier to locate them once they get radar since it broadcasts their position pretty far away.
