Default mini chronometer problem/general question

I have tried two mini chronometer mods and neither works. Does someone know of one that does work? I am new to mods, so I have no idea what the problem is. Some of my mods have prevented my game from loading, so I have not used them. I think it is because some of the files conflict with files used by another mod. How do you know if two mods conflict?

I've had the same problem in the past--installed a small clock mod but nothing happened. If you install TMO it has the small clock included--and it is a great mod. Plus, everything works as it should. Get JSGME, then try TMO. If you don't like it it is easy to uninstall.

Default TMO

I have only been playing a few weeks and unfortunately have no idea what TMO is. What is it?

TMO is short for Trigger Maru Overhauled. It is available for download in a sticky thread in this forum near the top of this page. TMO and RFB are what are called 'super mods'. In the case of TMO, the creator Ducimus has vastly overhauled and improved the game in many, many ways. Much more realistic than stock, looks better and is more fun. I highly recommend it. Real Fleet Boat (RFB) is similiar but is considered harder and more authentic still. Also a great mod.

You need JSGME to install these mods (and most others). It is an exceptional utility that is also available for free download. You can find the link to it somewhere in this forum. The directions are included in the download.

Go for it. You won't be sorry.

Having said the above, I suggest playing the stock version updated to 1.4 or preferably 1.5 until you get comfortable with the game. Then mod to TMO.

Default what do you recommend considering the following

I am playing the stock SH4 with the updates. I have mastered automatic firing, the Dick O'Kane method in the Rockin Robbins video's, and have been successful twice using the simplified maual targeting tutorial that requires computation of theaspect ratio. I have not tried firing using sonar and radar only. I have just downloaded a bunch of mods, and am tackling the radio and grammaphone. I did download a mod with Vargas pics which opens when I start the game, and I get a kick of that too. What do you think about me moving up to TMO?

Sounds like you are ready. A word of caution--I believe I've seen some posts in the past where different radio mods caused some ppl problems. I've never used them for that reason. I get enuf problems as it is. So install them one at a time and try them b4 installing more. TMO is safe, just follow the install directions. I seem to remeber it has to be first.

Default Mini Chrono

I adapted Chomu's Mimi Chrono to the changes Ubisoft made to the 1.4 and 1.5 menu_1024_768.ini file. This file controls almost everything you see on the screen. Any large Mod you are using will probably include their version of this file to enable new features and details of the MOD. If you use a chrono Mod and enable it before for example, Real Fleet Boat, you will not get the mini chrono since the file will be overwritten. If you enable it after RFB then the changes the RFB team made will not appear, probably making the Mod hard to use.

To defeat this you need to check all of your installed MOD's Data\ Menu directory for a menu_1024_768.ini file. Take the last Mod's file and copy it to the "Your MOD"\Data\Menu folder that you will have to create. Download this file http://home.comcast.net/~ancient25/Files/ClockMod.txt, open it and the copied menu_1024_768.ini in Notepad and paste the G29 lines over the ones in the ini file. Enable "Your Mod" after all the other ones. This will give you the smaller chrono. Remember, for safety's sake, to leave the original file intact and only modify the copy you made.

If this sounds too complicated let me know what Mods you are using and I will make a mini chrono one for it. I already have one done for RFB.

You should try JTxE to change the lines in the menu_1024_768.ini

Default huh

First of all, why is my girlfriend nuzzling up to jamimadrid? At least he could have the decency not to post her picture on his avatar!! My crew snickers when I pass....

Second, I do not have the computer skill to make changes to the ini file.

Third, if I give you a list of my mods, it is rather lengthy. It is not the end of the world if I do not have a mini chronometer, but have smaller tools and a smaller chronometer would be nice.

Fourth, jamimadrid's green lights fix is very useful.

Fifth, we had propeller problems for a couple of days last week and I let some of the crew throw fishing lines off the bow. Damned if one of them didn't pu ll in a 700 pound marlin!!

For 1.5 i've made an JTxE conform Ini-Mod for the smaller Tools and chrono. http://files.filefront.com/Mini+Chro.../fileinfo.html

Please download it, put the ini-file in the Ini_Mods Folder and install it via JTxE.

No manually changing the the menu_1024_768.ini.

By away, she tell me about you. Now i understand why your crew is snickering.

what do I do next?

I down loaded the JTxE application and ini_mods folder into the directory of SH4 where the JSGME application is located. I have about 10 mods activated in JSGME and some have been overwritten and are not working, including the mini chronometer mod. I am not sure what to do next. Since I have no programing experience, what should I do? Should a I deactivate all of my mods and open them in JTxE? If so what do I do before or after that steip? Please provide me step by step instructions, as I have no experience with this type of task.
